Why do you say our income not as much as other country income? Are you saying their tv contract or merchandise or arena revenue more than us?

Maybe their arena is very big?
Plus got good PR manager to increase merchandise?

Or maybe there is some conspiracy. They give higher revenue to certain "big" countries in BuzzerBeater. Hahahahahahahahhaahaha

Well, I have no access to their TV contract or merchandise but I can check their arena revenue.
So I decided to analyse the best teams in BB, namely the past 3 winners of B3 and compare it with our MBBA champion, Spaz

B3 Season 11 winner: ESV Laim from Germany (World Ranking #1)
B3 Season 10 winner: Sharman Globetrotters from Japan (World Ranking #3)
B3 Season 6-9 winner: BC Törööö from Canada (World Ranking (World Ranking #7)
MBBA Season 6-11 winner: Ampang Stuporsonics from Malaysia (World Ranking #47)

Team Name.................Arena Income (Size).......Top 8 player salary......Delta
ESV Laim....................$604,180 (28000)............$889,291.............-$285,111
Sharman Globetrotters...$619,642 (20211)............$934,070.............-$314,428
BC Törööö..................$524,139 (21860)............$896,659.............-$372,520
Ampang Stuporsonics.....$601,846 (26,535)...........$378,926..............$222,920

There can be a few facts that can be drawn from the table above:
1. MBBA arena income with other top teams are comparable
2. Comparing only the salary and the arena income, the B3 winners are making a loss.
3. The average salary of the top 8 players for the B3 winners are >$110k/player while Ampang is only averaging at $47.4K
4. Ampang Stuporsonics is damn rich!

I am not sure about TV contract but I will think that TV contract should not have a huge difference with MBBA. So let's say their TV contract is $150K and staff salary let's say they have 3 exceptional staff with a salary of $40K. This will roughly mean TV contract is offset by staff salary + scouting.

If the above assumption is true then in order not to make a loss, the team's merchandise income will need to be around $300K - $400K. Merchandise income is very much dependant on :
1. The performance of the team
2. Player's involvement in national team
3. Player being the league leaders in terms of points, rebounds or assists

Since these are the top teams in BB, they should satisfy all 3 criteria easily and will definitely be raking in lots of merchandise money. So $300-400k should be a reasonable amount.

In conclusion, other teams in other countries are making the same amount of income as MBBA.
The only main difference is the merchandise which the teams are getting as a result of having a winning team not because they are in a country with more managers.
So income is not dependant on the size of the country but more on the performance of the team

Back from moving house and fixing my connection, time to take a short time out to think up the objectives for this season.

Rich, that would be disputable. Take a look at the Team Transfers and compare the results, I think the Stuporsonics are pretty high up there in terms of total net transfers.

I think I can safely say the top teams are NOT earning 300k in merchandising, not even close. They are running on a negative budget, covered only by their training programs. It's okay to leak a couple hundred thousand if you make up for it with a 3-4 million transfer at the end of the season.

The proposed strategy of having negative income every week and funding it through transfers every season is a possible strategy but will only be possible for non-top teams. Because they cannot afford to be fielding backups as starters in their league games. So at most they can train 1 player (During scrimmage), which at best will usually gain about $2M per player per season training.

Another way to check is as per your proposal to check team transfers. If they were sustaining their teams with the profits they make from the market, their nett transfers should be positive. So I went again to check the same 4 teams on nett transfers since 1 season ago (1st Feb 2010) and even 2 seasons ago (1st Nov2009)

Team Name.............1 Season (# of transfers)..........2 Seasons (# of transfers)
ESV Laim...................-$5,288,400 (4 transfers)........-$15,786,500 (13 transfers)
Sharman Globetrotters..-$2,614,729 (23 transfers).......-$1,101,758 (43 transfers)
BC Törööö.................-$3,852,400 (8 transfers)........-$8,395,100 (15 transfers)
Ampang Stuporsonics....-$4,161,600 (1 transfer).........-$4,150,600 (4 transfers)

Based on the information above, it is obvious that:
1. None of the teams are making any profit from their training programs
2. Sharman Globetrotters makes a lot of transfers (about 20/season) but the negative nett transfers will mean that he uses the money to buy better players and not to fund his negative balance sheet

It is also interesting to note that all 4 teams need to be having positive income in order to be able to buy these players.
On average all 4 teams need to make $4M/season in order to be able to fund for these players.
Since 1 season has 14 weeks, this will mean they will have a nett income of min $285K per week.
From the previous table I posted the losses from arena vs player salary was about -$300K.
So, in order to have a nett income of $285K/week, the merchandise will most likely be $585K/week.

This or their TV contract is a lot higher than our $146K.

Either way, total income from TV Contract and Merchandise need to be more than $725K for them to be able to bid $4M on players every season with their current player salary and arena income.

Actually, I brought up the total transfers on an MBBA comparison. For example, the Stuporsonics have spent a net amount of -17M when all transfers are counted. Ginakia, however, even with his later 4M acquisition, stands at only -12M net.

Here are some facts to help understand financial life at the top.

Merchandising. The top teams are earning an average of 100-150k per week on merchandising. Their rosters are built with the objective of strength, and not home grown players. The highest merchandising revenue in the game I would think is around 240k per week which belongs to a Finnish team with 3 NT players and an entire roster of Finnish players.

League TV contract. Again, on average, they are earning 150-200k per week. Germany, with the highest number of superpowers, leads the way with 199k.

It's becoming a little like Hattrick, to go for the gold you need to run on a non-sustainable negative budget. In the past, there was no reason for the Stuporsonics to invest too much into team strength. Just enough to the point where I would think it will give me an advantage in the MBBA, balancing performance and profits. But now that Ginakia has upped the ante, investment has to be made or a disadvantage on court will follow. I have been a big advocate on the BB discussions in the past on the effect money has in swinging major games and speculated if big teams can survive or even succeed with a sustainable economy. As things stand, I might continue to work with my self imposed salary cap to see how far it'll bring me.
