we all know how you love SB. and believe me, i really do like SB. I have asked all NT C managers ( ask Stonestars to confirm it) to train SB.
But quadruple 14's just don't cut it anymore. My goal is to keep improving the belgian NT, hoping that, one day, the Belgian NT will make the world cup stage (don't need to win it. just need to take part in it)...
For now, belgian NT has:
*) quallified twice for the european championship, in which it has ended once 3rd and once 5th.
*) Because of it's 3rd position, the Belgian Nt has made it to the repechage, but was unlucky their in the way things turned out...
*) never made it to the second round of the KO stages of the consolation round...
So their is still alot of work to be done.
quadruple 14 won't cut it against top 50 nations. It could be used as a back up, if you can't get any better, but Quadruple 14's just don't cut it anymore. you need atleast quadruple 15, if not better.
You need atleast quadruple 15 (with a salary of 180k , without factoring secundairies) to go up against C's of top nations...
And nowadays, most teams play with C's who have a high JS/JR combo at the PF or C position. So to stop them, you need OD on your centre...
And unfortunately, we don't have any farm teams, as other nations often do have... So i got 2 options. Either ask a manager to keep training his C, without thinking about his economy -- please note, doing so will destroy the owners economy, because his C will outgrow his economy very fast-- or, i can make suggestions how to train, informing them about the economical effects that it has ( which i have done for each and every player that we got).
As NT manager, i need to get the best possible players for belgium. However, that doesn't mean that i have to ask people, to train their C beyond the abilities of their economy, and thus destroy their economy, which will eventually lead to the destruction of the team. That isn't what a NT manager should do.
So i ask as much as possible (keeping the economy of a team in the back of my mind when asking for extra lvls), select the best C's that we have, and try to get the best possible results with them. you know as well as anyone else, that a salary of 300k or more on just one player, is very hard to manage, even in the BBBL. Top BBBL teams can have up to 750/800k while staying even. Any more salary than that, and you'll be in the negative each week. So Dorchain is more or less the maximum ammount of salary that is managable for a BBBL team (atleast, it is at this current moment). Thus, i'm trying to get the SB of every C above lvl 10, but even that is a very hard thing... Each time, i try to improve the players comming from the U21 into C's that are better than the ones currently in the NT.
Next week, Ballaert will be on the TL ( might as well say it, since everyone here knows it already). He's a C with very nice lvls in all 4 C skills. Whoever ends up with him, HAS to continue his training. Cause as it stands now, Ballaert won't make the NT cut.
Ow, and LoD, i just wanted to mention that Dorchain is one of the C's, who managed to keep it together against the bigmen of top nations, such as Slovenko or Portugal. That proves that he has earned his spot on the NT roster. Their are very few C's of whom can be said that they can rival with the C's of top nations...
Some nations have the luxury of having a real PF play at the PF, or maybe even SF spot. That PF often has JS/JR and sometimes OD aswell. Mees isn't at that lvl, and i dought that Joe can support a 200k PF on his team... Belgium isn't an as large community as spain, France, italy or china, just to name a few. We had to do it with what we have. And right now, Dorchain is one of the best that we have. I love Dorchain for the fact that he has got that OD. It makes him capable of guarding a PF or a C in a Man to Man defence.
