I believe I'm one of those who know you. I think you're doing the right thing asking in advance if anyone else in interested. If you don't get a reply that might be an answer in itself. For what its worth I'm sure you know the game.

I appreciate your words. True, asking before is the better way. Better than just invade in a election, put on a speech, and loose. Better to have some words before.

I was thinking about potentially re-running due to having more time for BB now but if the community would prefer a new guy to have a shot i'm all for it

I think the most important thing is for the community to realise how much the players had to do with our success the last few seasons (no offence Woody!) and now that age is going to cost us, we need to be realistic about what the next manager, whoever it is, will be able to do in terms of results. Innes particularly is going to be missed.

I think it's important to understand that whoever the next coach is, the focus will be primarily on replacing the current crop in terms of assuring the future. We have a lot of solid young players making their way onto the scene and whilst it's important to keep the training going I think it's fair to say as a community we can be very proud of the current crop and future crop of players considering our size compared to the nations Woody faced at worlds. The NT always has and always will be a bonus for coaches training players, and whilst it should never be considered above people's own teams I still believe we can compete

Also... seeing you throw your beer at the wall when the game goes close in the last couple of minutes is a perpetual novelty

It wasn't just the players Woody; the roster you had four seasons ago was so full of holes from 1-3 that it was impossible to work out the best lineup. It was only when you started to trust your own decision making that results became elite, and the integration of guys like Carter and Findlay were a big part of that.

To me, the only other manager with a comparable England NT record is Vecx's U21 stewardship.

So far, England has produced two elite BB managers (won lot of trophies, had clubs ranked top 20) - me and Vecx. And I'm borderline ;-)

The only English manager I would support for the NT job is Vecx. That's not to say I'm advocating support for certain non-English managers who appear to have pretty mediocre records with their club side.

My preference is still for a non EBBL-manager to run the NT but preferably one with decent credentials...

I am flattered and although I am not sure I am worthy of the complement I appreciate it. I have thought long and hard about this but remain convinced that at least for the next 6 months, my work / RL time pressures do not make for an ideal time to run the NT. Likewise I do agree that running the NT at EBBL does place you in a tricky situation of perhaps unfairly knowing your opponents players. Having said that, I'd love to give it a shot at some point and that may mean either choosing to drop again to train another Innes or going for it while in EBBL.

I'm still rebalancing my team so time will tell.

I agree with you 100%. Especially the fact, that NT is just a bonus for training players and to train players should be the first interest for the managers own team. I never told people to train this or that in terms of training just for the NT. I was always to take in account what the managers want, means what kind of player they want to build and than to check which is the quickest way to reach the target. This is how you get managers a bit more involved. Of course that means a bit more "paper work" but it helps and often it pays also dividends, sooner or later. And for training I was not only helping the NT prospects. If somebody has questions, I was always eager to help, even if that means a lot of writing.
