When u first announced the contest You said in the forum or jfarb said quote on quote "the top 5 19 yr old in Season 19, or a top 5 20 yr old in Season 20 you will win a prize." in season 19

So are we having a contest for 19 and 20 yr or not?

I hope we do i would appreciate it.

You are misunderstanding what I meant by that. In that quote I am still referring to this class of 18yr olds, who will be 19 in Season 19, and 20 in Season 20.

The contest is for the players who make the Season 21 U21 team. Its in the first post, underlined. Reason being that we wanted everyone to have a fresh start. If we made the contest for the Season 19 U21 team for example, it would be too late for the majority of managers to find a player who has a chance at making that team. Since its the Season 21 team, everyone has a fair chance because they can find a good 18yr old trainee who will be 21 by season 21.

I know players with only all-star potential have a very difficult time making the U21 team, but could Merlin Minton have a shot? (22087729)

Jump Shot: prominent Jump Range: strong
Outside Def.: respectable Handling: respectable
Driving: strong Passing: average
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: pitiful ↑ Shot Blocking: average
Stamina: inept Free Throw: inept
Experience: atrocious

He's only popped 8 times so far this season, but with more dedicated single-position training for a while could he turn into a player the US could use?

By the way, I don't know how he compares to other players his age because the database won't accept him, but the inside shot and inside defense are both pretty good for someone his height and I doubt too many players his age have a better jump shot, so I figured I'd ask. Also, the rebounding pop was random from cross-training.

Great player for you.

As of right now, based on the DB, he's the best PG, SG, and SF for all 18YOs. Pretty sweet, right?

Problem is, he may get passed during his 20 YO season...

I just added him to the DB. So if you check again, you'll see him at the top of the list for 18YOs.

Someone may delete him at some point, since his potential is low. But I though you may like seeing him up at the top!

Wow awesome, thanks! So as of right now, he's the #1 PG, SG and SF prospect. Of course that won't last, but still, pretty sweet.

Given how he looks right now, is there any specialized skill set that would give him a chance despite his potential? Or should I forget about the whole idea?

he'll be fully trainable through his 20yo season. i have experience in this. I have an AS potential guard and he is 22 and still popping. He has been single position trained most of his career. 15/15 in JS/OD too. There is a misconception about AS potential guards.

@goon, train the heck out of your guy and you'll have a shot if his skills are worthy.

I want to improve this player in Driving. Do I do pressure or one on one? (He's 18 and in this contest, that's why I'm posting this here)

One on one will train driving about much, much faster than pressure.

Now, depending on what you want to do with this guy in the end, you could do 1v1 guards, or 1v1 forwards. Both train driving and handling about the same speed, but guards will give more increase to JS, while forwards trains JS slower, but also adds some IS training.

I would do 1v1 for guards, personally. looks like he is a guard prospect.
