what if we just got rid of team ratings, then you wouldn't complain about them not matching ;)

the team rating reflects the effectiveness of the team you put out there in each category...

meaning a good player who was tired as heck, is not effective and thus your team rating would be lower than if he were not tired.

It was not that simple like you put it, because as far as I understand, Team Ratings are not a reflect of team effectiveness but a measure of team strenght. Match-Ups could be a measure of effectiveness. Considering that, Match-ups must also inform of the decrease in performance for tired players.

Thanks for your answer!

no sorry.. my terminology was perhaps unclear.

when i say effectiveness here, i mean not relative to your opponent, but relative to how tired you are.

You have a certain skill, you are a certain amount tired, combining those gives the "effectiveness" i was speaking about.. certainly one could also combine it with various skills of your opponent an arrive at a different measure of "effectiveness" that you spoke of, but that is not what I intended to convey.

Ratings indeed are independent of your opponent, for that is their primary purpose to inform you and your opponent about the strength of your team in different areas.

Do not worry. I was trying to be clear enough, like you said in another thread, being a BB is hard because everything you say is used in order to get some insight of the game.

So, Team ratings do inform about the decrease in performance (modulated by stamina) as well as match-ups.

Thanks for clarifying this, I have had this conversation with several managers with no unanimous answer.

NO!!!!

they are not a function of the matchup.. your teams rebounding team rating is not dependent upon your opponent, though it is modulated by stamina.

My english is suffering here... When I read that statement I understand that Team ratings as well as match-ups (by this I mean that both of them have someting in common) do inform about the decrease in performance that occurs when players get tired (This is what I was talking before). Since stamina have a direct effect on this decrease in performance(or that the decrease is a function of stamina), both of them (Team Ratings and Match-Ups Ratings) are indirectly modulated by stamina.

I think I got it right, just that somehow we understand different things from the same sentence. But it is ok, I'm not a native speaker.
