Thanks, I think that's pretty much the strategy I'm going to go with. I got real unlucky considering the players that were scouted twice had a 3 ball potential at best, so it makes it difficult to ensure that I'll get a player who I'll be able to train a lot, etc. Still, if I end up with a guy with announcer potential as my 1st round pick...that'll be a bummer.

Even without that ridiculous box score, i would take the 2nd guy. A 3 star potential is at best an all-star, so i would rather risk taking the other guy, imagine if he's a hall of fame or more realistically MVP, you just hit the jackpot! I don't have experience if the box score is very reliable, but im relying on it this year..

Goodluck..

i would only use the boxscore as tie breaker for "similiar" players, it is hard to get some information out of. Some guys in germany collected a bit one season, but the data wasn't very usefull.

I would go for number one, he is 18 and has a solid potential(above average when you follow the other thread here). Even when he has an petty early pick, and so better chanches to get still an top player.

I just want to give an example, how random the boxscores are:

FG: 8-13 | 2-13
3Pt: 1-4 | 2-2
FT: 0-0 | 0-0
off. Reb: 1 | 5
Reb total: 2 | 9
Ass: 2 | 9
TO: 3 | 5
Steals: 2 | 0
PF: 0 | 0
Pts: 17 | 6

This is most likely the same player, very high and rare potential a +/- in grade same position and age. The first value is the stats line from my game, the second one is the stats line from the opposition.

Haha, I'll be sure to think long and hard before I take any advice from you ;)

However, I'm really disappointed with the quality of scouting for this draft...I know it's all random and I just got unlucky, but I didn't pour money into scouting all season to end up with a ton of 1 and 2 ball potential guys...really disappointing.

I'll keep an eye on your draft picks and I'm sure that you'll do the same with me since it's looking like we might establish a bit of a rivalry as soon as next season ;)

having a lot of 1-2 ball isn't all bad!
you have a good idea of how you don't want to pick...

i agree it's frustrating though....

There's a guy on my draft list who's a 5-star A-minus 18-year-old SG with 3 ball potential. However, in his box score he missed all 8 shots he took from the field, two of those from 3-point range. Should I rank him below a 5-star PG who's only been scouted once but who had an excellent box score?

Depends how much risk u want to take. I wouldn't put that much emphasis on the box score in your choice as the SG could of just had an off night.. The SG is a nice safe option and 3 potential isn't that bad. If your feeling lucky put the PG first he could be a 5 star 4 potential 18 year old but could also be a 5 star 3 potential 19 year old. Depends where your picking in the draft also. If your picking late in the draft the more chance the 5 star unknown has been scouted by someone else and if he is good someone else would have got him. If others have scouted him and he is still on the board at your pick then he mustn't be that good or they would have picked him up.
