im going to come along and disagree here and say that for playoffs (if the games are going to be close) you need strong+ gameshape min.

ill also say from what ive seen that there is a pretty big difference from resp to prof gameshape in terms of gameplay.

that being said nakers completely correct int hat you should be able to manage your mins well enough you should be able to keep your players above strong easily.

Never train game shape. There is no need. Manage your minutes better and you'll get strong-proficient game shape with relative ease across the board.

Here's a graph that displays the relationship between weekly minutes and game shape: http://i39.tinypic.com/1553oud.jpg

Basically if you get a player between 40-80 minutes he should improve or maintain a solid game shape. 45-70 minutes would be very solid.

thanks for the graph.sorry for being skeptical but that graph doesn't really tell me much except a negative parabola. where did the data come from? and how did you get the units for the y axis? and what are the red triangles?

In the past, I've had all my players getting on exactly 62 minutes a week and their gs dropped from proficient to strong. why does that happen?

Yes that is my exact problem! where the team in my league are pretty much equal and the only difference is the game shape.
so have you ever kept your g.s at proficient for more than 2-3 weeks? and how long did you play that player?

I have 1 guy that i play just under 58 minutes a week and hes happy at a proficient for 2 weeks in a row. I have a player that only go to proficient if i play him 70 minutes a week.

Gotcha...looks like the parabolic plateau is at 58 mins. I'll try aim for that instead of over 60.
so its more of 55 - 60 mins a week is optimal... I keep hearing ppl say 60 - 70...
