I had said the guy had average rebounding, not atrocious. But I re-checked and he only has mediocre rebounding. Had an average of 4.4 rebounds per game - obviously the no. got a huge kick because of the 19 in 1 game.

Thats what I was saying is the problem. That too many rebounds go to the battle between the centers and not enough to the guards.

You have to account for who the opponent plays and i don't see anything strange in that game considering that your mediocre rebounder went up against 3k salary shooting guard playing the pf position.

Being a guard I notice that we don't go for rebounds because we want to conserve our energy for the things that we are supposed to do, like perimeter defense, driving and running an offense. Also, if your big men are good at rebounding, the offense is good at offensive rebounding or the offense has a good field goal % can have an affect on guard rebounding. Also since guards usually play on the perimeter their best chance of getting a rebound is if it is a long shot that bounces out of the crowd in the paint. I believe that the 19 rebounds are an outlier, but that the fact that he was playing center has an effect on his mentality because it is his job to rebound so he tries harder.

I have a point guard with respectable (7) rebounding. For several seasons he's averaging between 5 and 6 rebounds per match. I think that is worth the effort and/or salary.

We have both said a lot of things that you are going to regret.

Rebounding may be overratted at NT level when it's 18 vs 16, and there's not much difference between the two - but there's a much greater difference between 12 vs 10, and I'd rather have the 12!

Even at EBBL level I play at, which I'd estimate battles of 15 vs 13 are most common, it makes a noticeable difference and I'd rather have the extra five rebounds a game than concede them.
