Player who belong in your HOF are players that you have had for a while, so anytime you sell a HOF eligible player your merch will take a hit.

You're confusing people.

Selling players in your HOF doesn't decrease your merchandise. At all. HOF is purely a cosmetic feature of the game for Supporters.

Selling players who have been playing on your team for an extended period of time will cause a slight drop in merchandise. HOF or not.
