Band of Brothers was great, but imo the pacific wasn't as good. you didnt get to know the characters in the same was as in band of brothers.

I thought the Pacific was pretty dissapointing to be honest. The story was part of the problem (it was based on 3 different books not the single story of one company like BoB). Also it examined the "mental" side of war a lot more where BoB seemed to be more action based. Kind of like comparing THe THin Red Line to Savinng Private Ryan.

I'm a bit of a history buff and have read extensivly on Easy Company and the 101st airborne as well which probably plays into my intense love of BoB!

Well other than Game Of Thrones, there is only 1 other tv series that need even be mentioned... It's been a long time coming but finally in Oct we can all get to kick it back and watch some of the best zombie action ever to hit the little screen! Yes that's right I am talking about season two of The Walking Dead!

After that teaser of 6 "finger-licking good" (pun intended) episodes they delivered in season 1, everyone should be famished and more than ready to devour this next season which has a double helping serve compared that initial tid bit they served up. Don't anyone even try to tell me you're not starving for this one! ;-)

Sons of Anarchy + a billion. Awesome, awesome show about a bikie gang and all the stuff they get up to amongst themselves, rival biker gangs and the law. Can't wait for the next season. Anything that Ron Perlman is in is good too.

Possibly the best theme song ever too. The crow flies straight.........

I just finished watching season3 of Sons of Anarchy. For anyone interested, season 4 is starting on Foxtel later this year.

I've got Boardwalk Empire recorded, that's the next one I'll be watching.

Agreed about band of Brothers - that was awesome. I also agree with the comments about the Pacific - I thought it pretty disappointing as well.

Are there any 24 fans here? I know it was totally unrealistic, etc but I loved it and thought it was one of the best shows on TV for quite a while.

I've got a bunch of series on DVD that I haven't gotten around to watching. The Wire is one, so it's nice to hear some good reviews. Also have all of the Sopranos DVDs, but haven't watched them either (never seemed to find time)... I'll watch them one day!

What comedies do people like? My favs would be:

Two And A Half Men
How I Met Your Mother
Frasier

There's a show on Fox 8 on Friday nights called The Buried Life - its about a bunch of guys trying to cross 100 things of their bucket list, but they're always pretty crazy ideas. It's worth a look - we started watching it in the US last year and got hooked.

Oh, and for anyone that likes Aussie comedy (the good stuff, not crap!), check out The Jesters if you can find it. Mick Molloy is an Aussie comedy legend.

And finally, there's an old show called The Games, which is a spoof of the Sydney Olympic organising committee as they try and organise the 2000 Olympics. It's one of the all time funniest Aussie shows ever to be on TV, even though most people haven't hear of it - I would highly recommend trying to find it, even if you can find a couple of episodes online or something. It's simply brilliant. (It stars John Clarke who would have to be my favourite Aussie comedy actor of all time.)

I'm currently going through a stage of buying DVDs of shows I didn't have time to watch when they were on or I've heard of. Thes include:

NCIS
CSI
Hogan's Heroes
Hustle (British TV series) very good about a group of con artists
Primeval (also British) also good
West Wing
