Update: Clippers beat the Lakers in a preseason game where Kobe, Gasol, and Bynum all played 30+ minutes. The game may have been labeled as a preseason game, but that was an intense matchup regardless, and the Clippers owned The Purple and Gold.

I understand, but those guys probably didn't try as much as they would in a regular season game, although you could say the same for the Clippers. We won't know who is better until they face off in a matchup that has some meaning to it.

I couldn't believe the Lakers played their stars so long....Clippers did not. 30+ for the Lakers and 25 or less for the clips(No I'm not counting Deandre and his 27 minutes as a star). That is somewhat telling as well. The Lakers just looked really bad and I couldn't figure out why. Surely it's not just Lamar, the 6th man? Kobe competed hard, and if you don't think he did then you didn't watch the same game I did. If anyone took a back seat it as Blake Griffin...he looked like he was just feeling out his new teammates and not being his 22/12 self.

My prediction is that the Lakers thump them the first time they meet in the season, but lose to the Clips every other time they play. I think the Lakers will be motivated for that first meeting as they hate hearing about the Clippers, but that won't carry over to the other meetings...

no offense but thats total BS. Kobe Bryant has always and always will go 100% 100% of the time. None of the other Laker players were kidding around either so I can't see why you would even consider saying that. Did you even watch the game?

The Lakers right now are a pretty meh team.

Their 4th best player is Josh McRoberts, they're probably the slowest team of the league, Kobe is still Kobe but he has a ridiculous mileage, Bynum will get his anual injury around March and he's still suspended for the first 5 games of the season.

Right now they're a fringe playoff team, unfortunately.

To tell the truth, I didn't watch the game, but I just assumed that since it was the preseason and since the lockout ended so recently that some players might be a little rusty. I'm still undecided on which team is better, so I'll decide which is the better team when I get to see how both teams do this season.

I agree Mike Brown's not the best head coach, but he's actually received praise from many executives and coaches for taking those Cleveland teams as far as he did.

After seeing the Heat lose in the Finals, people were more willing to give Brown a pass for those postseason blunders. Considering this Heat team was by far the most help LeBron's ever had, teaming up with Wade and Bosh, compared to any other past Cleveland team he's been on.
