playing double team, when a star player comes in possesion is an option you choose out of a man to man defence. In a Zone it works pretty bad
Bad or not (not...) it is just a fact that it is used by real BB teams.
Besides that, it is completely wrong claim.
It is useful in zone as well as in 1-1 defence.

i watch in fact some basketball, and i don't see it out of pratical reason. You might say the same about box and 1 which is a pretty rare defense in real, but at least it don't open the door that much like this transition you are planning.
