The reason why I decided to trade him was because I know I do not have the financial capabilities to get him to his potential. So I thought selling him would be more beneficial.

I see someone else has given you a ball for this answer. That makes me even more sad. It is not your fault, you are a new player, how could you have possible known that you were trading away Kobe Bryant for some trivial short term gain? In terms of financial capabilities I know lots of players that have been trained and made the U21 team or even the NT using a level four trainer. Sure it isn't as good as a level five but anyone can afford a level four trainer with fitness speciality which is probably 95% as good as a vanilla level five and a heck of a lot cheaper.

No bids yet so fingers crossed that no-one bids and you can still have one of the greatest starts a new franchise could hope for.

haha actually this is my 3rd or 4th season, its just a new account :P
but the whole time i was under the impression that when i get a player who i cannot train to his maximum potential,
it is better to sell him and buy another trainee who i can train to his maximum potential
this way not only do i get extra cash, i also do not lose the quality for my player
if im going for an nba example it would be like selling dwayne wade to get eric gordon + money

edit: unless of course i am totally wrong and that i am capable of training such a player to come close to his potential

You can, and with a player like that you could ask your NT coach for help and specific advice that would be great for that player.

Oh the irony, a team called Game Over has bid.

A quick comparason.

Unknown mystery player
Shooting Guard
Weekly salary: $ 5 692
Age: 18
Height: 6'1" / 185 cm
Potential: MVP

I just went through 18 Indian teams that will be going bot this week. Not one had a player close. There was not a single 18 or 19 year old on 18 teams with MVP potential with any salary. There was also not a single 18 or 19 year old with such a salary. You got both in an 18 year old.

Out of those 18 teams this was the best young prospect.

Dhrtimat Shrivastava (25488598)
Power Forward
Owner: roar!!!
Weekly salary: $ 2 719
Age: 18
Height: 6'8" / 203 cm
Potential: superstar

Really not close to your guy. The next best was a $4k 18 year old with star potential. 18 teams! None even close to your guy in any way.

Well the good news is now you have a lot of money and can certainly do a lot of things for your team. Enjoy it.

well ended up using 20k to keep him
not sure if that was a smart move but i mainly did it because i was not happy with the price he was selling for :/

I'd say it was a smart move. I assure you that 20k was not spent for nothing. If trained well that guy can be an amazing player. The cornerstone of your team. Get a trainer and start pumping...

i agree with IR 007. Look at my team for example with the two Dave's and the best part is you probably have more experience than i did starting off. By the way the merchandise boost you get is pretty significant

All true, but sadly I suspect that selling and rebuying the player removed the original team roster bonus with respect to merchandise. So he'll still get a boost because the player is from his the team's home country, but not the extra boost that a draftee/original player would.
