well i know its obvious, but im just trying to work out how other nations started out because every country would have experienced the 'not many users' problem at some stage.

like, Japan right, how many million people? 130 million or thereabouts? probably in top 10 countries in the world population wise.
and EVERYONE would have access to the internet, so its not like its an access issue like in a 3rd world country.
so whats the difference between Spain and Japan? similar population, maybe basketball isnt as big in japan as Spain, but still.
ok, so lets compare that to Australia - we got 20 million. yet we have over 400 users? Its not like, all 400 joined at once, and i didnt join because i heard from friends, and a lot of users just hear about it from advertising.

so what makes the difference? Maybe its just that, Japan has so many other interactive games that are way ahead of the technology compared to the rest of the world, that Buzzerbeater is a bit old-fashioned for them. Particularly not having a good mobile app is a problem.

but surely the problem isnt 'nobody plays because... nobody is playing?"... because EVERY country would have had that problem at some stag.e At some stage, there was only 10 users in Australia/Spain/England etc etc.. so how did it grow beyond those 10?

people dont want to play against bots - yet, pretty much all countries, when you start out, you play against bots. in my first season, there were only 3-4 active teams in the lower league...... and yet people still play until they promote and play against real people (and perhaps this is the difference, because japan only has half a dozen full time users, although wolph counts as like, 14 full time users in my opinon :)) so therefore even when they promote they still play against bots.

So it would be interesting to see like, the hit rate - maybe in japan, people arent interested in an english speaking game. Or a basketball game. Or a non-mobile game. Or a combination of all 3. who knows, but i think its something bigger than just 'oh nobody plays it'.... maybe BB just needs a japanese ambassidor, to go down to the basketball leagues and promote the game, give free supporter to some people etc. suddenly there is 50 users, then 60, then 70. thats nearly enough for Div I and Div II. then i reckon it would just take off and explode :)

yer sorry i didnt mean you specifically, just someone....

its a shame really because you would think japan could have a big user base. so there is obviously a market that they are missing out on there.

well who knows - maybe ur micronation BB-International league may get a gig.

wouldn't be hard to do - Just make a fake country - and if new person starts in a micronation, just ask them if they want to be part of a bigger community, or their own country.

and then do the same for all existing users.

I think in fairness, they may have to 'handicap' existing users somehow if they transferred them over. Not sure how that would work.

While nearly half (48%) of the countries in Buzzerbeater have under 80 users, only 3.8% of the users play in these countries. That being said, I think Wolph's suggestions are pretty good.
