let's not exhagerate here.
First of all potential is NOT the speed a player trains with. It is a soft cap, so the trainingspeed will be the same for all, until the cap is reached.
if you want to train a player from average to proficient for example, why would you spend more money on him if he his potential woult take him 6 levels higher, while you can buy a player that you could train to say 2 levels above your goal, for less money...
Players with very high potentials might cost a lot more, but only because managers think they are worth more, however I'd prefer a decent player with lower potential to play with, rather than a bad one that has more potential, but takes 3 more seasons to get the skills needed...
Potential only is important if you want to train the guy. So players that are not in training positions, have no value from their potential.
Only if you plan on buying a trainee you want to train for a very long time, only then high potentials start to become important.
I'm sure however high potentialled players will cost a good deal more, but only because people make it so, not because their real value is that high...
