I'd be even fine if they just took the NBA odds and injected them into the drafting order. Those worked out pretty well last season

Here is an example of how the draft order used to run in the NBA which was more "top heavy" and more useful to us and our smaller draft pool size (8 in BB vs 14 in NBA):

Last place: 25.0% chance of receiving the No. 1 pick
15th Place: 19.9% chance
14th Place: 15.6% chance
13th Place: 11.9% chance
12th Place: 8.8% chance
11th Place: 6.3% chance
10th Place: 4.3% chance
9th Place: 2.8% chance

There is a remaining 5.4% that in the NBA which was available to the 14 teams rather then our 8 in BB. This percentage can be divided in some way amongst the teams above evenly.

No GM fixing... it's a lottery.

So first I have to buy my team from GM and rename it to Pelicans. And then it's a "lottery" right?

Thats a nice way of avoiding tanking.

Tanking might not be fun and make higher divisions' games boring and predictable but its still a strategical part of the game that applys even in real life, in the NBA for getting better chances in the 1st pick of the draft and/or create space in salary cap until certain player(s) become free agent so then they can fill the remaining space in salary cap.

Less common outside of the NBA but still existing for teams that have financial problems they keep as the 1st team their U18 roster and they fire all the high salary players so they can start earning money again even if they demote they still get some money from sponsorships and ticket sales.

So if we want to have some parts of BB be like irl we dont need to force people away from tanking. Apex's suggestion about draft pick order is gonna make this part of the game even more realistic +1 from me, lets hope they make this happen.
