I don't know when a discussion turns from "in depth" to "flogging a dead horse", but I am intrigued by the implications of the game's dismissal of height as a factor. A couple of thoughts:

1) I assume new players have skills more or less randomly assigned. Could it be that it is at this point that height may play a role -- that is, if we surveyed all 7 footers and all 6 footers we would find the former collectively have some rebounding or inside defense head start and the latter would have some, i don't know, OD or Handling advantage?

2) If height only affects training, then would it not then be to our advantage to seek out the smallest possible players that suit our needs at a given position? I am now thinking I should not have shipped out that 6'5" center -- I thought he was going to take too long to turn into a perimeter man, but I see now he is averaging for his new team in the mid-teens for rebounds (and playing PF).

Anyway, let me know when i have started whipping a deceased carcass.

Well for one the player your referring to isn't playing in a very tough league. I don't understand your argument for having shorter players, Centers and PF train faster if taller. Of course it's nice if they have initial skills like respectable handling and passing or having a good rebounding guard but it's not required. I really don't see the issue. I've played several bball sim games and in those which factors height with ingame performance the 7+ footers are horribly overpriced simply due to their height. With no height performance correlation it allows player anomalies like Hakeem who could dribble or Barkley who was a great rebounder despite his height.

It wouldn't be making sense when there are 5'11" centers can dunk & score on a 7 foot centers. If game engine's coding doesn't include this, then the game wouldn't be fun anymore because far from realtime.

i was having a respectable outside defense 6'6" SF, and my opponent SF was 6'0". During the game, i was using 1-3-1. Just badly surprised to see that 6'0" SF can easily hit a lot of threes onto my 6'6" Ace Defender's face.

I know, it seems to make sense that a taller player would give more trouble to a shooter. But that's not how it works with the GE.

In terms of OD, it all depends on the skill level of the OD alone, and not on height. However, to train OD to a high level, you need a shorter player for faster training.

And btw, respectable OD probably didn't do it for this case, because the opposing SF had a very good jump shot or range.

ever thought about why training is slowed down? i guess cause the height is 'included' in the skills. 2 centers of different height but same prolific rebounding skill will get the same amount of rebounds, but the smaller one had to train harder to get his prolific rebounding skill.

If they made a change for height to make it effect ingame it would *completely* destroy the economy.

The game suddenly becomes less fun after three months when you learn how the game works?

And if you have a guard that also has skills of a centre, or a centre that has skills of a guard, feel free to exploit the match-up problems. Although it doesn't seem realistic, you just have to go along with the current system.

Are we all sure about this height doesn't matter thing... Here is a game where my C(6'11) out rebounded a 6'2 C 19 to 7.. The 6'2 C is making $2000 more a week.

Height must have something to do with the GI.. why else would they have it on the game.. peace
