My comment tonight is about the draft and is not meant to criticize those who put no money at all in for the draft. OK...This is probably going to be a rambling type of discussion: Nimrod Farkus, my scout, probably doesn't know a 5-star player from third base, which base he never reached in his short baseball career. But he is paid fairly well to go out and report on these scouted players. He then brings in several more to give a more complicated assessment. Now, Farkus, being the genius for talent that he is, brings in 4 guys and reports to me that he has given a C-, D+, and 2 Ds! What a genius this s***head is, right? I mean, is he a -1 scout? Which begs the question: Why are managers who have been in the league the full season given free looks at players? Who is doing their scouting and who is paying for it? Does the fact that they're not putting a dime into scouting simply reflect the fact that they think they can do as well as those of us who invest in it? If so, they're probably correct. My last three seasons—with a fair amount of money put in—have yielded virtually nothing. Comments?
