In my upcoming playoffs I will be facing a team that is alot stronger than me. I have been reading this thread about Patient and I think that if there is any chance to win my opponent then it is by playing patient.

This is my opponent (117732) He usually plays with a PF in SF position, but recently he bought a very nice PG so now he can play other tactics if he wants (he already played something different in his first game), but no matter what tactic he will use his weakest link should be his SF

But I am affraid that he will play 3-2 against me as I have played outside oriented tactics the whole season and I haven't seen any good examples of Patient working against 3-2

Also which player would you guys use in the SF position, I have two players, both of them have the same DR, one of them has 1 more JS than the second and the second has 1 more HA than the first.

In hope of help and good replys. tommi77

- low stamina players

- good playmaker

There's been a lot added to this thread, but I'll just chuck in my experience since I've been experimenting with Patient off and on the past few seasons. My biggest lesson is this: when you just know that you're facing a solid outside defense, don't try this offense. I say this since more times than not my SG will shoot a lot. A whole lot. And we're not talking about the greatest shooter in the world, and definitely not my team's best offensive option. I usually run with 2 or 3 good passers every game, and the last time I ran Paitient (32851850) my two best passers were at the guard spots and my SF was also a pretty good passer (he's trained as a balanced SG), yet my SG took 46 shots, more than half of my team's shots, and only hit 14 of them. Granted, he had a decent mismatch to exploit, but I can't believe that his mismatch was any better than what my C had, at least not to justify the sheer volume of shots he took.

Anyway, I have had the occasional successful game with Patience, but in big games that offense has typically failed me. I'll probably try again some time when I think my roster is better suited for it, and perhaps when I throw a very bad shooting SG to see if he won't shoot so much. But I'm staying away from Patience for the next few weeks...

What level is the driving skill of your SG and C?

I think that if a PF/C has a quite high driving skill that this tactic can be used to create a mismatch at the PF/C positions (like in this match (33310835) or in this match (33309298)).

Personally, I haven't seen a heck of a lot of difference between Patient and the Base Offense, except that the shot clock ticks down lower more often and fewer shots are taken, though not by so much. Even in a Base Offense I find my SG position tends to shoot more than I'd like when my best scorer really is my C.

Were you seeing a difference in the way your team spread shots around when you ran Patient instead of Base?
