Pilipinas U21 started slow, but steadily increased their lead over the first period. However, they were plagued with foul trouble which included Ace Julio Madrigal’s
(38155771) second with 7:29 left in the first, forcing him to sit. Carreon filled in nice for Madrigal, but when the other starters sat, Hangkuk U21 showed their heart by crashing the boards, led by Soo-Hyun Park with 5. Their offense however failed them, as Pilipinas ended the quarter with a 33-16 lead. Durano led the team with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks while Siegfred Estillore
(38155755) is the team’s assist leader with 5 dimes. The second quarter continued in the similar fashion, with Pilipinas U21 building the lead slowly, but surely. This time, Durano made sure that their opponent will be unable to compete in the boards, getting 8 in the quarter. Despite the fact that they were ahead by a large margin, they treated the match like a playoff game delivering hard fouls including one which injured Hangkuk SF Ki-Hyun Hwang with 7:27 left in the second. As team Pilipinas continuously share the ball, they extended the lead to 54-26 at the end of the second quarter. This is seen through the 30 assists they compiled as a team. After opening the third quarter with a 25-9 run, Pilipinas sat their starters as garbage time commences with 1:44 left in the third. From that point onwards, Pilipinas U21 is on cruise control as they finish the game 113-47.
