Did I write something wrong?

As I was 7th last year I know that details can make a difference between a win and a loss. The game engine is difficult to understand... I think my team isn't that bad at all but I wasn't sure at the beginning of the season.
So I try to get as quickly as possible outside the relegation positions...
afterwards we see what's possible...

My team is quiet old and I should renew my key players...

well, eventually the teams you want to avoid get into a smaller and smaller group and chances to go against them get bigger...

I have a strong opponent too, luckely for me I get to play at home...
Which still is no guarantee. Luckely Sammy got his 48 minutes, because if it was the other way around, and Eeckhout would have 48 and Sammy 43, then I'd have to play Sammy in the cup and it would have be the end for sure. Now I have some chance to get 1 moe round.

All star voting is a big joke to start with.

players who play most minutes in the league games get most chances of getting more votes.

It's kind of like the MVP voting. Back in the days when some of my players might not have been THE best, but very sure be among the 10 best of the lot of DivI players, none of them got votes for MVP, just because I divided my minutes perfectly, and had everyone start 1 game and back-up 1 game, and then had a good mix with cup-games. Therefor the better of my team averaged about 25 minutes for league games, for to few for getting votes.

I never bothered though, and still don't, I think dividing minutes is much more important then playing the best players excessive minutes to get votes.

Hey, maybe Sammy has some... ;þ

Still, congratz to the peolpe with All-Stars, I'll go check out which they are right now.
And I wonder if our side finally will be able to win, or that we still are the worst side in the BBBL. ;þ

the all-stars ARE very strong, let there be no doubt. It's not unusually the best players playing most minutes in the games, leading to strong all-stars.

But it's very possible some strong players, who might be in the same level, aren't mentioned because they had not enough minutes. There can only be 10 on each side ofcourse.

On an other note, yey, I'm still in the cup... Wizards wsn't easy, especially not when my players only get half of their FTs in, while the average skill is at 10 for FTs. But once Wizards stopped fouling, my men took lead and didn't slack.
The remaining teams are all dangerous to each other, well maybe not to sonics.

Let's see who's playing who next thursday.

Thank you for the compliments...

I'm surprised myself of my good start this year... but I have a very difficult program the next month.
Unfortunately I lost in the cup to early (TIE vs Crunch on the road against mod-revo)

My only goal is to stay in the BBBL and I think it's almost done.
I also try to renew my team little by little... I foresee 1 other transfer of a young and good player on the SF position this season...

good luck to all of you.

i hate CTing in general, but i still don't get why you didn't go normal against me. i was almost sure that you would play normal, since you had saved your big guns for me... so i went with a CT, since i though i had a chance at advancing another round or 2. my goal was the semi finals of this seasons cup. i made the quarterfinals 2 seasons ago, and with my team having quite some bad luck in my own division, i didn't have much left other than the cup...

tbh, i was hoping to play Antwerp Giants in the cup at some stage.

would have given Tim a chance to get a revanch game since our last encounter ;)

playing TIE on the road is dangerous against almost any team. Playing TIE on the road against a crunch is almost a sure loss, unless there is a huge difference between the teams.

Playing at home one can risk a TIE and have good chances, but if the opponent isn't a lot weaker and crunches, it's still dangerous.

In most conditions playing crunch is the worst possible choice any manager can make during a season , unless it's a Play-off crunch. The penalty of a crunch is so high, chances of getting anywhere are gone, unless you are a lucky bastard. But hoping for luck doesn't show much tactical ability.
Crunch is only for those who have no goals of reaching anything decent, it's used to get just 1 step further and then give up.

This is okay as far as it's the team's choices. The real pain is for the team getting it against himself, and possibly some others as well.

I could try to explain numerous situation in which this 1 game affects the entire rest of a league's outcome, but won't, just rest asured a cruncher often decides other teams chances of reaching their goals. And that should not be the case. Teams should reach their goals by own capability, not because soe other team there crunched the other team there...
I've been telling this for a long long time, and luckely BB came up with the PO-crunch and PO-normal formats, which indeed already helps a lot. Still I feel the problem is now shifted a littlebit to the earlier time in a season.
I'd like to see the effects of the crunch be reduced, and then I mean the negative effect afterwards.
If the negative effect afterwards would be reduced, it would become a reasonable option to pick, while still having chances of reaching certain decent goals afterwards. It would be a choice of CT-normal-TIE. Get an extra win and try to not loose next, or try to keep it normal and win each game, but risk a loss here and there, or go for TIE in the easy games, or to sacrifice a game to get a few more afterwards.
As it is now, only the last two are valid, the crucnh option is now more like: do I want to win this game and get 1 more round, loosing at least the next 5 of my games...

Ofcourse this is not valid in bot-leagues or leagues where there is a huge difference between teams. But overtime most leagues will become fairly balanced in teamstrength. And then crunch is just no decent option...

Maybe others have different opinions?
