I think hes accepted his inabilities and the inevitable that hes going back to a lesser world next season and is smartly "flying low" fattening up his belly with all the $ he can catch whilst continuing his hunt for greater wisdom.
The sequel possibly the first of many will be when he returns to this world a stronger wiser gull and fights on equal terms with the monkeys, supercats, bogans, Koops and wombats of this "higher world"
This resembles most children "hero& villain" stories where the hero always loses to the deceiving villain at beginning, train to get stronger and return to save the world. In those stories, the road to save the world always look so easy and the villain never get stronger. In reality, the villain always get stronger, smarter and richer in the higher world while the hero is stuck in the lesser world earning peanuts.
