I think they're good for one more season, 35 is when the skills start to properly drop off with a career extension trainer - but then again, Innes has so many of them anyway... big mac at 34 should be fine unless he double drops on rebounding, and even then... and I suspect Osman will lose one level of OD and possibly one each of handling/driving next season and that's all. Anyway, I suspect the band can be kept together for at least one more season if we make the worlds.

Good effort Woody, can't win 'em all but beating Spain was a great result and if we do make the worlds, that would be absolutely outstanding.

The fact that yesterday's outcome was a disappointment is pretty remarkable when you consider that we've never made it past the group stage before. And it was a disappointment, during the third quarter we actually were in a position where we looked like qualifying. Belarus, who made a fantastic effort fell away, and Spain galloped off.

It was still a great effort from Woody, the correct gdp gave us a chance, playing motion and getting the benefit of Turkey's missed gdp was a further plus. Its England's best ever season by far, and yes we had home advantage, but under the current rules that's an advantage we won and deserved.

Well played Woody, and well deserved tips of the hat to everyone who had a player on the team.

I don't know if I've told this tale before but now seems a good time.

Once upon a time I never posted on the forum. I'd been here a while before I did (at least a year) and I remember the first time I posted. Woody had just been made u21 coach and was scouting and made a mistake about something in my division. So I thought I'd be helpful and post once (I thought maybe the only time ever) to make sure he realised his mistake.

He then decided I'd volunteered to help him (I had not) and suddenly I was scouting for the u21s. Everything that followed since, my time with the u21s, coaching England's NT (including a now truly overshadowed glorious semi final defeat to Italy) and my slight infamy on the forums these days as a wasp on the BB flower, are all because Woody made a tiny error in a post.

THANK YOU WOODY!
