I know that... I lived it with Bawin. But if you earn money and I'm pretty sure AZ has a lot of Cash, you can buy 1 or 2 great players no ? I understand the economical logic of that kind of decision, but waiting for another player to train means to wait 7_8 seasons... I think I would try to build a great team now...
I meant, you need 3 good players and cash to buy the other players. With one trained player and cash, you don't have enough to win a BBBL trophy (except if you have tons of cash, at least 25-30M). Actually AZ has 2 good or futur good players in his team. He needs a lot of money to have a chance to win the BBBL and when he will have enough money, his best player could be too old... Or not. The point is here.
The average amount for a good player (and by good i mean team leading player) is 5M on the market atm. you need 4 of those. that means you'll need 15M (give or take a M or 2 if you get lucky). I don't have those cash reserves, so AT BEST, i could build a team around Kasperovich, praying that one of the top teams would suffer serious injury problems that would allow me to slip into the top 4 and get something good going. Only one problem. you invest in your team now, but you need youngsters too for the futur. So i could maybe stay 5-6 season while riding Valery out, but if i want to get where i want to be, i'd need some serious luck involve of things that aren't in my control. It's a gamble i'm unwilling to take. So the money of Valery, could get me a return of 2, maybe 3, top notch youngsters, who i could train for the futur and use as building stones, all while i conserve my cash reserves. Hence, i'd be in a position to challenge for a PO spot in the BBBL within about 4 seasons or so, with players i've trained to my likening (And when it comes to training, i've got a fairly proven trackrecord of turning fringe players into NT calls ups or NT regular ones).

@Guiguits : AZ is right, if he can't have a team around his best player, seeling at 28 might yield quite an amount of cash. No point in keeping him if you don't intend on winning something with him.
@mplume : of course it's a valid strategy, but I feel a little disheartened at the idea of going back down :/ However, the way things are I'll have no choice, I'm spending too much money on players I can't win something with (even my home games ...) so that's poor management from me. I should get rid of that, save money, tank a BBBL season while starting to train ... I'll give it a thought.
jezus it has sparked a debat here. But Angi has understood my logic. Also, with Bawin, the case was different (i'm honored you said we trained him tho). The difference is that you drafted Bawin, which makes him really valuable merchandise wise. i haven't draft Valery, which makes him a tad more expendable. And there lies a significant difference. Which is partly why i'm hoping to get a good draftee. Because if i can add 2 premium players from the TL + my draftee, i'll have filled out my training slots. I can then proceed to train these players to my liking, come back with 2 top notch players & a supporting cast, come to the BBBL again, then buy 2 impact players, get top 4 and continue the training on the draftee along with a new player i can pick up then.
This game isn't about short term strategy. There are only 2 goals i haven't achieved yet. Be part of a U21/NT team that makes it to world championship & win the BBBL. All the other goals, i've managed to attain. The hardest ones remain, but i'll get there some day ( and i sure hope i get to be victorious in the final over Joe. Just so that i can pay him back for season 5)
