The age old debate...... to be honest, I don't think they'll change much as long as they're still bringing in a bit of coin.

Yeah that's cos in the ABBL when one team announces that they will tanking the whole season. Then usually two teams will tank as well cos they know that if the can just come 6th or 7th and save a whole lot of coin, they can buy up big at the end of the season to try to win the relegation series. A tanking team in the ABBL can make up to 300k net per week so if there are 11 weeks in the regular season, thats an extra 3mil you can spend on players at the end of the season.

Usually when that happens it makes it tough on the other conference cos they will be 3mil behind and most likely lose in a relegation series against a cashed up tanking team. Also this happens when there is a bot team in the ABBL as well. That is another reason why from season to season one conference is stronger then the other, cos one conference is trying hard to get at least 5th spot to avoid the cashed up tanking teams of the other conference.

This season in the ABBL, we have two tanking teams, one from each conference. So that creates an even playing field for both ABBL conferences.

Anyone notice Whitebeard is undefeated again this season? Even in the B3 as well. Just remember Rome, Athens, Babylon where all super powers once. Whitebeard will fall just as hard =P hahahah

tanking is a good strategy... but for some reason i can't keep doing it for more than 1 season! I tried, but got bored of it... I guess thats why i am forever doomed in Div II. There always seems to be @ least 1 (if I'm lucky, more likely 3 or 4) good side that is always in my way.
If only there was an easy solution, but for now BB still has my attention :)

Yeah, tanking...sucks, JW. As you said...absolutely boring. This is my third season of tanking (not in a row). Previously I used it to successfully to build then blast out of Div III in an undefeated season (regular and playoffs) which I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. This season has definately been the hardest to tank (althought this week saw my weekly profit go past $125k again). But it fluctuates too much. BB has definately altered home arena sellouts to limit funds imo. How? I think they have changed the code so that too many losses sees a reduced home game crowd compared to previous seasons.

Ultimately though, tanking sucks!

I don't think they have done so to the attendances. I was 1-9 and hadn't got below 80% for the season, despite multiple big losses. Having won my last 2 and gone to 3-9 I filled out my arena in my last game. So I dont think it is the case

Fair enough but given their previous statement about making it harder to earn money tanking what else could they do?

Tanking does suck, it is boring and bad but doing it once in all your BB career sems tolerable. I made it all the way to the ABBL without ever tanking and just tanked my first season in the ABBL and used that season to set up my future. The direct results of that season of tanking are Lawrance, Sperbert, Kumar (training) and Barton (training) that is four of my five starters resulting from that one season. That one season of tanking was well worth it, there are lots of teams that sem to tank when they make the ABBL, the costs to compete are huge and the profits from tanking can be above $500,000 a week.
