Last season my Center (21 yrs, all star, a lot of room under cap) was bought by a manager who told me explicitly he would had not trained him...and even not sold him!!! :((


Which player r u talking about?
I checked your transfers but even this whole year (up to 7th Jan 2010), there were no Centers sold from your team.

Thank you for your welcome! Yes, we should. I need to finish my Consolation (the wc qualifier is over with SA first victory in WC at any level!), and it will be over by 6 weeks. With current roster (and some crazy trainers...) it's impossible to figure out to proceed to playoffs. I will have plenty of weeks for good scrimmages!

Sigh... no response from the community for a call for trainer is bad enough already.

To realise that it is not that we don't have trainers but more because our trainers only want to train foreign 18yo players is worse!

I think the choice to train local trainees or not is totally up to the individual. Most of the time, local trainees do not have the skill sets the trainers want nor the potential, and it ultimately represents a sacrifice by the trainer to contribute to the local NT. Some play for glory, and I do understand if they want to mould players that fit their plans.

So, now that our trainers are limited, do you guys want to put our eggs in one basket rather than fading away season after season? Why not all of us still in it pool our resources are create one golden generation of players? Next season for example, we pick up a trainee each and create a powerful U21 team 3 seasons from now? I've reserved a slot for next season, might pick up a PF or SF.

Not in my case. In previous seasons, when I drafted a nice potential player, I trained him up.
Look at Shahrulnizam Bin Hassan and Mostafizur Atre. The former being an U21 player and the latter currently on the U21 squad.

If anything, the top teams and older teams with greater finances should buy local trainees as they are more likely to be able to afford compared to new and small teams like myself without much financial flexibility. Ampang Stuporsonics did that previously but not many of the other top rank teams are willing to do so.
These top teams are more willing to spend the cash on big time foreign players with huge salaries so to maintain their top positions.

Ok. Let's all stop pointing fingers and accusing each other and take a step back. I'm on agreement about the suggestion for a stronger squad preparation for two or three seasons time. Which obviously involves a lot of planning ahead. I suggest instead of bickering and being on the offensive or defensive we start planning now for next seasons draft. And ironing out details like saving money to buy from the TL and scouting efforts now.

In general, it is not so bad to have your pupils abroad. In my case, most of best players where trained abroad. Of course, you can have good and bad trainers almost everywhere. A good scouting system should "persuade and influence" managers to train players at best. In some cases, coach should take drastic countermeasures: my Lefa Kadzamira was discarded from the roster as not only he played 120' per two weeks in a row, but was a SG having a pop in SB!!!

It is nice to have all your best players in your country. In Italy happened so far, but more recently some players went away - it is a question of managers priorities, cash, team competitiveness.

I think it depends on opportunity, skill fitting with your needs, and availability of trainees.

If the community is wide enough, most of trainees, if "suggested" by coach and staff, can fall into the country of origins.

But, although it is nice and probably more reliable to leverage local community, it is not a must. Italian top player Fanesi is playing in Austria, and we are much satisfied of him. Others play locally, and we are angry. Not to mention my mixed experience in South Africa: my top 3 players were trained in South Africa, Spain and -if not wrong- Germany. I am currently training a potential future PG of Uruguay.

You need good managers - and good counselors in your staff.
