Its always hard to rank the top but I would put Lebron, Kobe, Wade, Durant, Deron Williams for my top 5 with Roy and Paul not far behind (couldn't put Paul in there with him not having played for so long)

Certainly a respectable list. I might argue that Durant > Wade. However, that's irrelevant to the point that I think most people agree that Kobe and Lebron or Lebron then Kobe are in a class by themselves. The rest of the top players are merely trying to fill that void from 3 on down.

It doesn't address where Dirk ranks. Quite frankly, I like Dirk but I can't see him cracking a top 5 list unless he's got someone else on his squad with that "killer instinct" Sadly, Dirk is doomed to continue to fail because he's just not a closer. Lots of sexy stats and lots of W's in the regular season but he just won't bring it home.

I think people are underestimating Wade because he hasn't been on a good squad for a while. I definitely feel that the elite consists of Kobe Lebron and Wade not just Kobe and Lebron. Durant has been great but okc doesn't get played enough on tv so I'm not sure but definitely Durant will get on their level if he isnt already. B Roy i feel is a mini Wade and is my favorite player (excluding all Lakers), he'll get up there soon as well.

Hello America,

In every article relating far or close to basket ball, I've noticed that everybody is talking about the Miami Heat or the Los Angeles Lakers as if there were only these two teams competing in the upcoming season. Their respective roster is great, no doubt that they're serious pretenders to the "Graal", but what do you think about the chances of other teams, like for example the Chicago Bulls or others ?

You think D-Fish, Steve Blake, and Jordan Farmar are weak? (I don't like Jordan Farmar so yeah he's weak I wish we would trade him)

I really don't think Chicago will be a force to be reckoned with this year. Sure, they'll probably make playoffs, maybe even 4th seed, but they're not that big a deal. In the Eastern Conference the serious championship contenders are the Magic, Celtics, and Heat. In the Western Conference (which I haven't been paying too much attention to regarding team building in the off season) we have the Lakers, Mavericks and maybe some other team? Maybe I'm blanking out...

So yes, I think most people are talking about the Lakers and the Heat because this is a thread about the Heat and IF they get to finals it seems most likely they'll be competing against the Lakers considering the relatively easy path the Lakers have to the finals this year.

I didn't mean to imply they are weak, just that PG is a weak part of the Lakers compared to their strengths. That said D-Fish is not the player he was, and Steve Blake still needs to prove himself as a player, and in the Lakers system.

Farmar went to the Nets dawg thats why we went after Steve Blake.

To the only talking about Lakers and Heat thing:
Its already been said but yeah the bulls are good, not championship quality. There actually has been some talk about celtics and Magic if youve been paying attention to every post here, as well as mavs. The thing about the western conference is that it gets super competitive around the playoff teams, and then Lakers are just a step ahead of everyone so when youre talking about championships only the Lakers come up for the west, despite the amazing talent of many of the western teams.

I'm a Celtics fan. We just signed Shaq and Jermaine O'Neal, so i don't think the Heat will dominate. The Celtics and Lakers are definetly able to beat them. Also, the Heat are Dwayne Wade's team, and LeBron won't be able to stand being a sidekick.
