Goldfish get a bot in the cup so decide to smash me in league. A bit over a week ago they were looking like certain relegation material then they go and win three in a row. I think this season is still wide open. There are a number of teams that are within striking distance of each other and a move by any of them can be fairly important.

Fishy, koops & Pancakes are 3 teams that I wouldnt want to face in a relegation series

Having tanked the last two season in the ABBL, fishy must be sitting on a mountain of cash atm.

350k net income is pretty handy atm... would come more handy come relegation battle time. =P

Looks like pancakes, fishy and I are all trying to out tank each other.

At what stage should I shorten the odds on Stone Slashers?

6 wins and 2 losses,

Has not been beaten in a game that he has set his team,

Beaten Aussie Pride and HSD at their home courts

Must be saving money as his players only have a combined weekly salary of 668K.


Are his odds of 12 to 1, too long?

Well its been a couple of weeks since I framed the first market on this seasons ABBL Championship and with a few teams having shown their intention, I thought it time to adjust a few of the odds

Please note that I have each teams original odds in brackets besides their current odds

Urmummas are the new favourites, they are not training and won't drop games chasing the cup as they are already out, they have a 9 player roster that they can afford and they will have top spot in the playoffs.
(They will beat me in the crossover game which is at their home court)

Aussie IMO are the best team and will be absolutely awesome when Schneider starts playing in the paint rather than training as a PG

Proven champions; Koops, Pancakes & BLS always have to be respected


9 to 4 - Urmummas (3 to 1)
5 to 2 - Aussie (5 to 2)
7 to 2 - Immortals (3 to 1),
13 to 2- Stone Slashers (12 to 1), HA (12 to 1)
7 to 1 - BLS (4 to 1), Seagulls (16 to 1)
8 to 1 - Dropouts (8 to 1),
9 to 1 - YP Bears (12 to 1),
10 to 1- Koops (9 to 2)
33 to 1 - Goldfish (100 to 1)
40 to 1 - Pancakes (16 to 1)
50 to 1 - Ants (66 to 1)
80 to 1 - B Spurs (33 to 1)
2500 to 1- Homa Axis (100 to 1), NC Cavaliers (250 to 1)

The big advantage Urmummas have is not having Aussie, Immortals, Stone Slashers or you on their side of the draw. With a possible bot over here teams are falling over themselves to cut salary and just coast until they buy up for their relegation series. Injuries and training obviously change a lot of things.

Yep, 100% correct although of course they still have yourself (Chelsea Seagulls), HSD, YP Bears and Koops to keep them honest.

It seems unlikely that Aussie will be able to get HCA for the finals, but regardless they will be extremely tough to beat if they decide to keep their current roster in tact.

Perhaps this seasons cup might be more of an achievable target for a team like mine but with 8 other ABBL teams including the cashed up Fish, remaining alive, even that might be too tough of task.

Will 13 wins be enough in the Big 8, to avoid the relegation zone?

Not a bad replacement you got for your 4K though and I suspect that with some gameshape training this Friday he will be back in shape

Training and Peni Lucas injured has slowed things down for my team. Peni's 2 week injury seems to be 2.5 or a 3 week injury now, plus add a couple more weeks of getting into form which will take his recovery to ASW. Fouls may be costing me as well, so I may need another back up or sell Orlinskas (Weekly salary: $ 223 684) and split that into 2 players.

Have you not seen my team lately? 3rd lowest salary in the ABBL. I'm just banking cash and going on auto mode whilst I play around with the utopian team.

I'll give home axis zero odds of winning cos it looks like he will be bot soon.

And I got a trivia question: When was the last time an ABBL team with grand finals HCA did not win the championship?

When I first did the odds I had you at 9 to 2 , but in the 2nd set of odds I just most recently posted, I had you as drifting out in the betting to be 10 to 1.

In retrospect this was a mistake as you are only a game out of the 4 and you nearly once won the ABBL after having a massive buy up and sneaking back into the 4 just before finals.
