An expected loss today as Otherland fell to the Shakin Babies on television, 107-73. Mocanu a newcomer to the SHakin Babies started out hot, going 8-9 to start the game before "cooling" down to 15-25. Mocanu, in his 1st game with the Babies finished with 38 points, 6 rebounds (4 offensive) 4 assists 2 steals 1 block and 0 turnovers. Someone needed to step up with the Babies' leading scorer Estramigas injured early in the 1st quarter, and Mocanu was happy to Oblige.

For Otherland, it was a solid defensive performance against a vastly superior team. Playing thin at Center with Chung Hui's injury, Belkhaouas played 47 minutes of action, shooting a HORRENDOUS 7-23 from the floor, missing a 3 attempt, and going 3-6 at the line. Belkhaouas finished with 17 points, 17 rebounds (4 offensive), 4 blocks and 6 turnovers. Fatigue, and lakc of back-up were factors as Chung Hui plays more of a passing/playmaking Center, and is more on the perimeter offensively than Belkhaouas.
With the expected loss Quigley got the start over Salas. QUigley was on pace much of the game for a triple double but feel short in the end. Quigley, forced into many jumpshots, shot 3-13 overall, 0-1 from downtown, split his only 2 FT attempts, and ended with 7 points 8 rebounds (1 offensive), 8 assists, 1 steal, 1 block and 1 turnover. Against a lesser team he probably would have pulled it off. That or if Belkhaouas personally wasn't trying to keep a rebounding pace with Shakin Babies and league leading rebounder Carapio.
Salas got a solid 13 minutes of action shooting 4-8, including a DEEP 3 ball, missing his only FT attempt, and collecting 3 rebounds (2 offensive), 1 steal and 1 turnover. His 9 points off the bench were all momentum plays that gave Otherland scoring runs.
Citak also played well off the bench. Forcing Mocanu into a lot of tough shots, as well as playing better than Zwirski offensively. Citak played 18 minutes scored 10 points on 5-10 shooting, with 5 rebounds (2 offensive) and 1 block.
Zwirski fouled out, scored 5 points on 2-9 shooting, split his free throws, and had 7 rebounds (4 offensive), 3 assists 1 steal and 1 turnover. Zwirski at the half had a decent chance at a triple dbl, but got into foul trouble in a hurry, and eventually fouled out.
Stuart Huey trying to be top Stuart as well as top PG on the Champions, played 38 minutes, scored 10 points on 5-10 shooting, was blocked on a buzzer beater attempt from downtown, and recorded 2 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, and only 1 turnover.
Watt, signed to replace Huey, has been disappointing thus far. Today going 1-5 shooting for 2 points with 1 block. Watt also was blocked on a buzzer beater attempt. Watt did not record a single assist.... the main reason he was acquired was to open up the offense for others, so he has been failing his job thus far with only 2 assists per game with Otherland.

Otherland a 6.0 rating team on average playing the Shakin Babies on average rated 7.3, did a fantastic job despite playing at a lower effort level with less enthusiasm than their opponent. With divisional play re-starting, things could be very interesting for Otherland!

The Green Grove Lasers finally back in the playoffs, YES!!,http://www.buzzerbeater.com/league/337/overview.aspx Dan Roe had a very solid game with 27pts on 10-17 shooting 6-11 on 3s to help win the battle of the 5th seeds and with the guy ahead of me losing by 51pts I was able to sneak back in at 7-8 record and +16 in point differential.

Today's scrimmage for the Otherland Champions vs the Happy Pigs was a defensive battle. Otherland outperforming defensively, came out on top 74-60. The Happy Pigs only dressed 4 players, however, one of the players was a 50k+ salary player, and another a 20k+ salary player. the other 2 players were on par with Most of Otherland's players.

Paul Salas, in foul trouble during the week, needing some extra minutes to round out his training, played too well for the coach to not play him. Salas scored 25 points on 11-15 shooting, 0-1 from downtown, 3-9 at the charity stripe, those 25 points went along with 24 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks, but a ugly 6 turnovers.
Stuart Watt, taking advantage of playing against a "blank" player spot, took his horrible shooting to work, and did alright. Watt scored 29 points on 13-32 shooting, 3-5 from triple town, with 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals, and 4 turnovers. No other player for Otherland recorded more than 5 points.
Falcao only other notable, in 8 minutes of action scored 4 points on 2-3 shooting, with 1 rebound, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, and 1 turnover.

Otherland coach Troy Valmont, is excited to be re-entering league play within his own division. "Well, we went 3-4 before the break, and I think we're a better team now. New PR guy, Watt came in late in season, Salas and Quigley have been working hard all season, so we'll see how she goes from here..."
Otherland re-opens divisional play vs Shopwrekkers. Otherland beat the Shopwrekkers to open the season on 2/11 by a score of 96-83. http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/42845397/boxscore.aspx

Late season acquisitions made by Otherland, with Chung Hui still out, and divisional play about to go underway. Otherland coach Troy Valmont makes an aggressive move for a playoff push. Acquiring 2 bigmen from the transfer market. First is http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/23835837/overview.aspx Lolo Tapia Gómez. Lolo is sort of a combination of Chung Hui and Belkhaouos so, he should be exciting to watch. Also added was Thad Barrow, an American http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/25664270/overview.aspx . Thad is a defensive stopper that can be utilized late in games, and closing minutes.

Hmmm, Maybe we can fit a scrimmage? Billion vs Salas seems like a nice matchup. I got a pop in IS from respectable to strong on him. I am training IS fro the rest of the season so Papa can be a betterinside shooter. Kafka popped in ID last week, but not in IS this week. Billion will bea beast in 22 y.o. season, and more solid in 23-24 y.o. seasons.

Fairy tale endings don't happen here folks. Otherland trying to upset the Shopwrekkers for the 2nd time this season failed to do so. Losing by a final of 90-68. The defense just wasn't there holding Shopwrekkers to 37-71 shooting. Including the bench coming in for the whole 4th q and going... 5-17 in their time.

Otherland shot 29-95, and had 52 rebounds to Shopwrekkers 49 rebounds. Otherland with TWENTY FIVE, 25 of their 52 rebounds on offense.

For Otherland, star of the game:
Paul Salas
16 points 13 rebounds (6 on O), 1 assist 1 steal, the team's only 2 blocks, and 4 turnovers. Paul shot 7-20, going 1-2 from downtown, and 1-2 at the line.
Arthur Quigley
14 points, 11 rebounds (7 on O), 2 assists 1 turnover, 7-15 shooting, 0-4 at the free throw line

Falcao and Zwirski both played the entire 48 minutes
Falcao 5-15 shooting, 1-4 from 3, 3-6 at the line, good for 14 points, 8 rebounds (3 on O), 3 assists, 3 turnovers
Zwirski 4-23 shooting, 0-3 from tripletown, 4-8 at the line, 12 points, 13 rebounds (3 on O), 3 assists, 1 turnover, 2 steals

Belkhauous battled fouls all game, but played solid when on the court, going 4-7 for 8 points, 5 rebounds (4 on O), and 2 steals.

Watt played 46 minutes, 2-15 shooting, 0-4 from downtown, 2 rebounds both on Offense, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

Huey played 2 minutes, and had a +/- of -3

A poor offensive showing, particularly by Zwirski.
