Dear EGM, can we get an official answer on this player (36177757) as previously asked. I felt it wasn't the case to open another topic on the Bugs forum since many were closed, but the doubt still remains. Is this not a bug?

For an official answer, you will have to ask Marin, only him knows.

If that player is retired, it is likely that he was not fullfilling the minimas to become a FA. I doubt that is a bug. Should the minimas be the lower, it's possible.
Should I contact him directly or ask somewhere in the Bugs forum?
About the bolded. He is the 5th of his generation with potential>=HoF in terms of TSP, I guess it has been a really unfortunate draft for us then.

You can contact him directly, but I would guess his answer will be similar to this, "It's not a bug, he was not fullfilling the TSP". If the main thing you want out of that question is to know if that is a bug, he will be able to confirm to you that is or is not a bug. If you want more informations, I don't think you will get it.

As for the player retiring, for the first 30 seasons, 18 y old would always retire whatever their quality. I don't the new criterias and if they are too high, but they aren't higher than before for 18 y old. I am and has been NT coach in micronations for many seasons now and I personally saved many players by calling them into a NT, sometimes limiting my number of places in the roster. I know it has been used in France NT too, albeit in smaller numbers of course. If NT programs want to keep one in a generation player, the surest way to do so is by calling that player. Better safe than sorry. At least until we know more about the criterias either through the community or Marin.

I sincerely doubt that this player failed the TSP. My best guess is that the owner of the team that drafted the player went bot before the draft since he played as far as I can see the same tactics/lineup since 3/21/15. But then again, the team wasn't demoted as I would have expected a bot would have been. Perhaps they went bot specifically on the date of the season turnover? I presume that might be late enough to avoid the bot auto-demotion, but early enough that the change to a bot processed before the draft and new free agency rules?

I suggested earlier in the thread that this would be the perfect example to post in the Bugs forum.

Well since he is retired, instead of keeping it secret it's better to share his skills: 2 6 7 2 7 5 5 7 7 6 6 4 TSP 54.

@Perpete
Thanks for the answer. Since you, clearly, explained that it's not a bug there is no need to go further on this. Allow me, though, to express some concerns about the policy in place. That is exactly the kind of player I feel should be saved by the system, if the intention is to save multiskilled players.

I suggest again posting this specific example in the bugs forum. I don't think this player ended up being subject to the new free agency rules because of timing of when the team went bot, but I don't know for sure and I think this is exactly the type of situation that would be a legitimate bug report.

Actually, nevermind my suggestion. I posted it in the Bugs forum myself. (270767.3)

I will check tomorrow if on 28 April he was in a "human" team according to the NT scout dump that I have.

Thanks for this. I didn't get you suggestion on the post before.

No problem. I would have done it myself then had I not had other things going on Saturday morning. Hopefully we can get a clear explanation on this specific case - and since I've glanced and see an 18 yo HOF with less than 50 TSP on the TL, I presume that there's something else here.

That would be good to know. I'm trying to remember if the news thread got posted by the following Monday or not, and if Marin ever said specifically when he activated the new free agency.

...and he never said when the change was implemented, but I think that it's reasonable to assume that it happened at the beginning of the offseason.

I say this because I know that the English $34k 22yo SG who came up in threads before was already in a bot team on 28 April (one or 2 days after the draft), as he's not in my file (the alternative is that something went wrong with NT scout and he wasn't picked up).

(36177757)
His team was still active on 28 April 2015.

The players listed for this team were:
Khalil Al-Hamdan (29146298)
George Hutchins (28411130)
Josip Neuber (12229175)
Nicolas Mignot (17991530)
Whitney Rambuka (22575803)
Italo Larrea (27951926)
Raivo Vahemets (28918759)
Taavi Kähne (28919792)
Nikolas Mitsikostas (32897027)
Stefano Gavanelli (35356853)
Michael Dal Mutto (35356882)
Gigi Pistone (35356884)
Francesco Lollo (36177757)
Anthony Ardoni (36177774)
Francesco Ciampolini (36177781)

Even looking at the schedule, the team (36282) went bot between 16 May and 19 May.

Honestly I think the rules are particularly punitive for a couple positions, one being C like this player. It is quite clear if you also look at 21-25yo players who are retiring.
