I never insinuated Atlanta stopped Howard. This is where you and I always fail to connect. Atlanta Stopped Orlando, something FAR more signicant than stopping Howard. Team sport

So it was a trade that did it this year huh? and last year, and before that? Did you expect Orlando to get past Atlanta? Didnt you expect Boston to have a hard time getting past Orlando? (hint, you have said so 3 times in the forums). Sounds like Orlando fell short of your expectations

Really man... you point to ONE season, then point to it being indicative of a marked lack of success. C'mon. And "always fail to connect"? Not sure what you mean. From my viewpoint, we've hardly communicated, I have no thoughts on the subject.

This is specifically what you said:

You posted concern for Boston's chances vs Orlando because the Celtics lost Perkins and didnt have a big man who could slow down Superman. If that is the case, how the heck did Atlanta do it? (rhetorical)

Answer? They didn't. Which you answered yourself above.
But why make the comment at all? Unless you're simply trying to get a reaction. However, you didn't say anything prior to the Atlanta/Boston series did you? It seems pretty pointless to do so in hindsight.

Seeing as you seem so very interested in my 'expectations for Orlando', allow me to review...
I expected the Magic to do better, but I'm not at all surprised that they didn't. At the time of the trade, I remarked (elsewhere) that I thought they'd made some stupid moves. Making wholesale roster changes like this mid-season... not a good idea. Especially with the personnel they took on. But to categorise them as a "one trick pony"? Incorrect. Either you're discounting Dwight Howard, or their ability to hit threes. Which they can do, just didn't versus Atlanta.
I'm splitting hairs to a degree, and it's DEFINITELY a flawed approach (especially given the players they now have at their disposal)... but it's hardly a singular offensive approach.
I think that Otis Smith was feeling a great deal of pressure regarding Howard, and thus rolled the dice... and came up snake-eyes.

Dude, do you think you could chill a bit on the condescending 'tude? You've been on the attack pretty hard, I'll just stick to your basketball queries...

Look, my opinion on that series is that Atlanta didn't stop Howard (27 points/15 boards per is hardly 'stopping'), but they were able to play him with single coverage most of the time, which meant that they could do a real number on the Magic's shooters.

Agreed. Tho' I thought Collins in particular was effective (well... as effective as almost anyone can be on a single-coverage of Dwight Howard!).

Collins is historically one of the best defenders on the entire league on Dwight(just check Howard numbers against him),and the funny thing is that no one can explain why, maybe even himself :D

Collins wears Chanel #5, which is the next best thing to kryptonite for Superman

So,if Marylin Monroe was still alive, she would be the best defender on Dwight :D
