if passing makes a difference in FG% than i probably shoulda read this thread before i bought this player yesterday.

That's part of the equation. However, there's another factor coming into play. Whenever a player has the ball, he has to decide whether it's better to shoot the ball now or pass it on (or drive to the basket). Better passing for a player means that passing up instead of taking a bad shot is going to happen more often, in turn increasing a players' Shooting% (while decreasing his shot attempts).

PG passing should be at least prominent to make good move to make a basket.

It's all interesting read. I don't have very good players yet and the conversion rate has been in my mind for a few weeks now. So I am glad to have stumbled across this thread. I wanted to find out your thoughts on the following players based on what has been said.
Player 1 has a FG = 0.565
Jump Shot: prominent Jump Range: inept
Outside Def.: respectable Handling: respectable
Driving: average Passing: awful
Inside Shot: average Inside Def.: proficient
Rebounding: prominent Shot Blocking: pitiful
Stamina: inept Free Throw: awful
Player 2 has a FG = 0.477
Jump Shot: strong ↑ Jump Range: strong ↑
Outside Def.: strong Handling: respectable
Driving: strong Passing: awful
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: awful
Rebounding: atrocious Shot Blocking: pitiful
