yeah you have.. i cant remember where, but i remember you saying you're from the west..

tennis is good to keep a level of fitness, but i would think it requires a lot of training outside tennis to improve fitness..

Im turning 30 this year and wouldnt mind getting back to my best.

Ive definitely let things go and hope some healthy eating habits and getting back into running will help.

Best advice i can give those cola drinkers. Switch cola to water and you'll be soo much better off in the long run. I squeeze a little lemon in a glass of sparkle water once a day and that goes well with dinner.

could not agree 100% more... i think switching to water has been a massive part of my success so far!

and believe it or not, but Diet soft drinks are WORSE than regular soft drinks.. water is the only way to go!

Moorditj = good (Noongar)

Yes, I have already cut my coke intake to 250ml per day and have drunk copious litres of water instead. Will be some time before I feel significant change but already feel better about the direction I'm traveling in.

great stuff matty! Soft drink was probably the hardest thing for me to cut out...there is just something mentally about drinking water... not that it aint cool or anything, moreso that it is what mum made you drink when you were a kid.. :D

like anything tho matty, in moderation it probably isnt to bad for ya, it is when you start drinking 2-3 a day that it becomes a problem!

and on the topic of water, buy one of these if you really want to increase your water intake.

Best water bottle investment EVER! After buying one of these bad boys, ive been drinking 4-6 litres of water a day. Cant recommend these enough.

really just to highlight how important what you eat is in the battle of the bulge :D

for 4 days now i have been unable to exercise due to my back, but in that time i have still managed to shed 1kg just by maintaining proper eating! in the past if i had 3 days off work, i would have been having hourly smorgasbords :D

less than 2kg to go now till achieve first goal!

Top stuff, Skyhookz. Get that goal then work towards the next one.

I've been sticking to my training/eating healthy/drinking heralthy for four days now. Don't feel mircaulously better but know I will start to feel it soon. Feels great to be running again. And, again I love water!

Yeah...just got to keep going. I ran the 3.2km Mon, Tue and Wed, before going out to the folks place last night for dinner. While there I had two beers, pizza and did no exercise! lol I felt it today when I got back on track (literally and metaphorically). At least I had no soft drinks and am still drinking lots of water. Even better, I am knocking about a minute off my times each day. Nothing huge but small progress. Mind you, I time my self and just push myself a little more to be the previous time. Next week, of course, this 'pushing myself' will step up a notch. I will run further and have new times to beat. The timing of my runs isn't super important it just helps motivate me; gives me a purpose. BTW, I was shocked last week to get on some scales that worked properly...forget the 105kg I thought I was...wait for it...I was actually 91kg!!! My mates and family were right, I am looking better than what I had thought. This information only changes one thing...I now have a more realistic chance of getting down to a very healthy 75-80kg by the time the city to surf comes round in August. Sadly, all 91kg seem to be in the shape of a tyre round my waist! The proverbial beer gut!
