That's more like it! Some sense of history, plus realizing that the best players at a single skill often weren't particularly skilled at other stuff.

What can I say. I love this game and think I have a pretty good understanding of it, so I appreciate all sorts of players. Maybe I'll finally start getting a rep as in these Forums as someone whose opinion is educated?

My pick for ID was a tough one. Single-skill monsters at ID tend not to get a lot of minutes in the NBA since they make it so teams can't score, and scoring sells tickets. Also, interior defense is often based on defensive scheme. And often times the best ID players are also really good scorers, so they need to give up part of their defensive game for the sake of running the court more aggressively, but if they need to shut someone down on D, they sure can. Therefore, it's really hard to pick out who's really legendary at ID. I can see Dwight Howard maybe aspiring to the "legendary" level, but it's hard to say at this point in his career if he's there. It's easier to assign these labels in hindsight, so maybe he's legendary in ID, but we don't realize it yet.

If there is a skill for "Jerk", then "legendary" wouldn't be superlative enough for Laimbeer.

Let's see, all he did was tie a record for most 3-pointers in a Finals game, and ask Charles Barkley about taunting him to shoot a 3 just to have him make it. And ask the Celtics among a few other teams about having him hit the winning shot from downtown. There's obviously some personal bias putting Laimbeer as legendary, but you have to admit a career .326 3 point percentage isn't that bad for a center.
