I also feel like this is the best plan. If you are spending that much on the draft it is always nice to get to see how many balls each of the 18yos have. If you don't get to scout all the 18yos then I would always take a chance with an 18yo prospect that is not scouted right after all of the 5ball and 4ball prospects. That is my 2 cents to add on to what Math has said.

32 points? DAAAAANGGGGG Thats a lot but hopefully it pays off.

Do you think that is really a lot? I know 32 points is nothing to sneeze at, but it I didn't think it was a huge deal.

Just out of curiosity what is the max number of scouting points acheiavable in a season?

Now I ended up with a pretty disappointing waste of money. All I found out are these kids:

- Star Rating 4 (Grade B-), Potential 4, Age 18, Best position SF, 7'0''
- Star Rating 5 (Grade A), Potential 3, Age 18, Best position SF, 6'9''
- Star Rating 4 (Grade, Potential 3, Age 18, Best position PF, 6'10''

I search for a PF/ C Trainee. Which order might be the best?
The rest of the scouted players are crap (10 guys).

Do you have any more points?

If you invested 40k per week for 8 weeks, that makes 32 points. 40k x 8 = 320k. If you get the first pick and use the order you gave us, that guy may be worth around 500k, so it's not entirely wasted money.

Sometimes you will get a beast and sometimes a mediocre SF who you sell and get back your money.

In my first draft, I got a 18y old with 4.5k salary and allstar potential (Vanja Zorin, I'm still training him). Two seasons later, I've got the best player in the class (6k salary, superstar, all respectables in guard skills except an average for JR - Dean Polh). Next season I will invest in the draft again and might get a really good player or a mediocre one. But just in case I will also save up 1,5 million to buy a good draftee if my will be mediocre. In that case, I will just sell it.

I have a dumb question that I can't find in any Help area...is the Potential rating from 1 to 5 balls? Or 1 to 3? Please say 1 to 3...

Sadly 1-5

From what others have said, 3 ball potential maxes out around allstar.

From a FAQ by NakerVirus (the only thing I've seen regarding this):

What do the draft balls translate into in terms of player salary and potential?
Salary
5 balls = $3,700 and higher
4 balls = $2,800 - $3,700
3 balls = $2,300 - $2,800
2 balls = $1,900 - $2,300
1 ball = $1,900 and lower

Potential
5 balls = 10 - 12 (MVP - All-time Great)
4 balls = 8 - 9 (Perennial Allstar - Superstar)
3 balls = 5 - 7 (Star - Allstar)
2 balls = 3 - 4 (6th Man - Starter)
1 ball = 1 - 2 (Announcer - Role Player)
