Here's the situation:

There are three teams in my league that are going for a championship and each is very capable of it. Two of them are not in my conference and one is. I do not think my team is ready to promote and therefore, I don't want to win the championship even though I think I have at least a 10-15% chance of winning it.

My question is, is it moral for me to play Playoff CT in the second round of playoffs (against one of the real contenders), and therefore bettering my chances of beating him but lessening my chances of winning the championships (which works out for my situation)? Honestly, if I was trying to win it all, I'm not sure if I would CT or normal him. I want to go to the finals for the extra attendance revenue.

If you don't think you have a chance to win in the finals, why are you so interested in getting there?

And if getting there means you have to beat the one team in your conference that is better than you, and neither you nor he will promote because of it, why keep you main competition around? Wouldn't it be better to just let him promote out of the conference and be done with him?
