when you lose games on purpose AKA TIE. (Take IT Easy) you TIE most of your games on purpose to lose. If it gets to the points where multiple teams are tanking they forfeit (don't field 3 players)

It's really annoying for competitors cause lets say you're in 6th and tried all season to win and then theres a tanker in 7th and you face em in relegation series..............the tanker gets to buy 200k monsters and then crush you in the series. thats why tanking is bad

Tanking is the cowardly way out of a tough (no pun intended) situation. It involves losing games on purpose to get a better draft pick, also you reduce the total salary of your team to bring in the most revenue. Two things are wrong with this strategy. First and formost you are not guarenteed to get a stud draft pick, and if you don't you have just mortgaged your entire season for nothing. Second once you have wasted one whole season of losing, you then have to then spend at least one more entire season in a lower division trying to get back to where you started. If you read the news report that came out in the middle of the playoffs last season it states that they are trying to discourage this by making it less rewarding.

In my opinion don't take the cowardly way out. I have made it to Div III. by training players and selling them a season or so after buying them and mixing in some good veterans. Also you can survive in division IV by simply managing gameshape and enthusiam. The games you know you can't win take it easy, and then the games that might be close you can normal them and since your enthusiam is higher than their's (most likely) you will more likely win those games. And don't become predicatable in your tactics so others will have to guess what they should play against you. And on the other side, do some research on your opponents to see what their tendencies are.

1. Sell your players for as much as you can.

2. Make your ticket prices reasonable (I never checked, and this will take a while for them to change, it's not ther date for it)

3. Say goodbye if you don't do 1 and 2.

Train 2-position only, so you can train 6 guys (you will probably be training only 5 because of injuries and fouling out); later you can take the best three trainees and train them 1-position. Win your away games, so you come home with a win and fill your arena.

EDIT: You go and buy a 270k center 2 days AFTER you lose the 3rd finals game and you're wondering where does that 90k debt come from?

I think there are different definitions of tanking (in this game) and the definition being used in this thread definitely suggests that tanking is losing on purpose, which I think is a major mistake for just about any team.

If you are 90k in debts then you are in no risk of losing your team. According to game manual:
"If you go into debt, you will be charged a 5% penalty each week until you are positive again at the time of a economic update. If you drop below -$500k, you must get out of debt within two weeks or your key players will be put on the transfer list at a starting price of zero. If after selling your players you are still not out of bankrupcy, you will be fired as manager at the next economic update. Bankrupcy is calculated first in the economic update and active bids on your players do not count as money you have to avoid bankruptcy."

As it is written, you first need to have 500k debt and then you need to repeat this for two weeks.

I don't know what salary floor you got in your division but surely you must make a profit with minimum salaries? If not your staff costs must be ridiculous and you should immediately sack stuff to get back on profit on a weekly basis.

One way of getting good help is that you actually post your "Baseline weekly income" numbers.

From what I read I am sure that you are in no crisis at all economically. Your poor economy will of course give you poor chances of competing in your division but that is something very different than to lose your team. Looks like if you are ready to adjust your spendings to what you can afford you will be very far from bankrupcy.
