I'm probably getting ahead of myself...BUT....Let's say potentials were not shown (I know, they already have been but..) each team could have a head scout (in addition to the dr, trainer and pr guy) who at high levels could give very accurate information about a transferred player's potential.

This I'm sure would have its pitfalls as well.

Love the idea.

As it stands though we seem set for some hyper inflation on current 18-20 yr olds with decent skill sets & the small % of draft picks that come out with amazing potential... I cant imagine the majority of draft picks selling for the money that this years did..... (at least I hope this is the result from adding the potential)

let's not exhagerate here.

First of all potential is NOT the speed a player trains with. It is a soft cap, so the trainingspeed will be the same for all, until the cap is reached.

if you want to train a player from average to proficient for example, why would you spend more money on him if he his potential woult take him 6 levels higher, while you can buy a player that you could train to say 2 levels above your goal, for less money...

Players with very high potentials might cost a lot more, but only because managers think they are worth more, however I'd prefer a decent player with lower potential to play with, rather than a bad one that has more potential, but takes 3 more seasons to get the skills needed...

Potential only is important if you want to train the guy. So players that are not in training positions, have no value from their potential.
Only if you plan on buying a trainee you want to train for a very long time, only then high potentials start to become important.

I'm sure however high potentialled players will cost a good deal more, but only because people make it so, not because their real value is that high...

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

it is quite possible that capitalists will obtain the high potential players and try to monopolise the market for them, asking high prices for resale.
But it will be the ones buying those player for those prices that will be at fault.
If we all are patient, and refuse to pay a high amount of money for players, they will have to lower their prices, because otherwise those players become a cost instead of a profit for them...

I'm liking the idea the potential feature.
What i dislike is that it is shown to public even if you don't put him on the transfer list.

Lets just see where the softcaps are first...

As if i interpret the news correctly our players are still in the top 20% but with 5 categories of potential higher maybe they are / have reached their softcap in certain skills? If thats the case and the big teams cant efficiently improve their starting 5 with 'Allstars' then they will have to fight over the few that have greater potential...

Maybe it's a good idea of riceball to keep potential hidden to pulbic eye if a player is not listed. In this way you don't tell every detail to your opponent. It could be unimportant information but if it's only shown when listed it doesn't harm anyone.

Another question: Will a potential search be possible on the TL next season?

I would not be in favour of that, would make player search way too easy.
I think good players have to be found, not given on a plate.
