Yup. Plus it trains handling and driving reasonably quickly as well. Its a brilliant skill to train for a big.

I'm holding off doing passing training atm as I want to get a new big to train and give it to him from day one while I finish off my Gs. Give him heaps of passing is the way to go.

To be honest, the real issue for me is the salary of OD. Should be as expensive as passing, which would stop people going with super od guards and maybe make outside tactics viable. But thats an issue for another thread...

I like the idea of outside tactics becoming more viable.

From my recollection the most perceived flaw in the game until recently was that a Look Inside offense was too dominant.

High OD IMO helps negate the dominance of Look Inside as it "upsets the passing", where as high passing helps favour LI.

My point is that if passing become cheaper or OD become more expensive then as a result LI would become even more dominant

LI/LP is still dominant. I don't think the GDP has really helped in this regard, aside from making people throw in a balanced tactic every now and then.

You are right that OD is useful against a team that plays inside. But is more useful against a team playing outside. Against a team with legendary outside defenders, any outside offense really doesn't stand a chance (unless they also made JR cheaper!) It is basically impossible to hit the 3 point shot with any sort of consistency against such a defense. A team with decent passing can still thread through a high end outside defense and make an inside tactic workable.

Given that OD is universally regarded as the most important skill for guards, its effect on salary should reflect that.

And I don't think passing should be cheaper ftr. It is rightfully expensive for a PG (because it is damned important for a PG) and rightfully pretty cheap for other positions.

If anything, I'd make OD more expensive, and JS/JR cheaper. Might tilt the balance back towards outside tactics a bit. But I should stop derailing the thread now ;)

Personally I see handling as a major skill in not having so much TO's. A very underrated skill IMO. Also stamina will help especially if your player may be very aggressive (def/blk combined), just my opinion. This may not show up in stats for that particular player, but from what I've experience, may show up in overall team strength and performance, which is kinda random. However at the same time, the engine may give higher TO stats to bigs only cause that's whats expected in real life.

Hope this isn't too confusing but just my thoughts by what I've seen. Still believe that good handling and min resp passing helps big time overall with not only TO's but PF's.

agreed, but you tend to find that most bigs who have had 1n1 for forwards training will have half-decent handling.

problem with passing is that nothing else trains it. so you still tend to see bigs without decent passing.

but yes, agreed with the handling bit as well.

Will get to that mate. Also trying to be careful with where i spend on his stats early days. Don't want to get hammered with salary while i'm in Div 2 hence so much passing and outside stuff early on.

Would like to get SB up to around strong but that/OD & JR are the last 3 things i will touch on

He is not special. He is not a beautiful or unique snowflake. He is just the same decaying organic matter as everything else
