one way to get a little pop on memberships is to throw in a utopia team with your membership or renewal.

I have said it before, and will again, the best way to attract eyeballs and clicks is to use google ad-words. Case in point, I put basketball managerial games into the search engine, it spit out results for basketball MANAGEMENT games and we do not show til the bottom of the page below basketball manager, charazay and even our buzzer-manager sub site, now I refine the search for just managerial and we show up 2nd to the top.

we need more banter coming out of not just the management of BB but the rank and file.

There's just a question to answer to understand if BB is going to death: is there any owner of the game that is earning any money right now?
If the answer is no, just shut it down.
If the answer is yes: is there any extra money to spend in advertising?
Because visibility is the only key to keep it alive.

Even if the answer is no, there is no reason to shut it down.
With current user trends, in two years we will still have over 16000 users.
Sure, that's not great compared to prior user levels, but it is still a heck of a lot of people playing a game they enjoy.
And who knows, in the meantime, maybe some folks will figure out a way to increase awareness and turn the tide back to gaining users on a consistent basis.

I'm always one of the first on here to defend Marin and Buzzerbeater and i'm not a fan of the negativity in the forums, but I will say that I don't think there will ever be advertising/app investment in the game, its simply too big a risk. Things will most likely be left as they are to fade out in years (could be a fair few) time.

I should add that I would love to see advertising like the old days and a mega shiny new app but I realise that at this point any investment is a massive risk and it isn't my money and business that would suffer if it failed.

Massive Risk? We are talking about a five digit investment. Likely as much as Utopia made...

If it isn't that much I suppose you want to put the money up?

Utopia probably did make a fair bit and really we can all only guess as to the games finances but its worth remembering the upkeep costs of a site like BB, plus obviously Marin gets paid for his time and the original BBs will make some.

If I was the owner/s (who even is that?), I would definitely not want to invest a ton of cash into a game which won't survive in its current form for too many years to come.

revenue streams need to be improved, one thing I think would be a slam dunk so to speak would be to add commercials in between periods, there is three minutes that are going to tick off no matter what, might as well let google adwords pop up a few ads geared towards that particular persons shopping habits, it is already done now with the banner ads.

There are 182 users on line right now! That shows the vigor of the game, right? Three cheers!

Perhaps I was a little too optimistic there. Tonight it is "139 online at 19:08:50." Is 139 users a big enough number to sustain our enthusiasm?
