I think like most things that we made a first implementation of this and we are gonna have to look closely at the results and tweak it.. but you really need you beta testers with your wide variety of teams and viewpoints to give us feedback on whether its making sense to you. We will add this to the list things to tweak on the game engine side.

well charles implemented version 1.0 of this.. but i'll probably be doing version 2.0 so i'll take a look and figure out what I think could be done better and how it made sense or didn't make sense in those games.

In my experience, the coaching rating is backwards from my understanding of it as explained in the thread and others. My game yesterday:

Team ratings for King Drive Ballers (me)

Offensive Strategy: Base Offense
Defensive Strategy: Man to Man
Coaching Rating: inept (medium)

Team ratings for BK Rajecke Teplice (bot opponent)

Offensive Strategy: Base Offense
Defensive Strategy: Man to Man
Coaching Rating: prolific (low)

I won this game on the road by 35, and had much stronger players. Looking closer at the tactics of this game, there doesn't appear to be any major mistakes either I or the bot coach made. My guess to this game (and coach rating), is when you have better players its harder to get a higher coach rating.

I remember one of the BB's saying not to look into the coach's rating too strongly right now because it needs to be tweaked.

I understand that it will be adjusted, and seen comments from BB's that it's not working as intended, but doesn't it have an effect on the game? If so, is there any way we can prepare our teams. If not, great, then I'll just ignore it until changes are made.

none of the ratings you see directly affect the game play.. they are more a sort of average readout of what happened. how good were the outside defenders you played over the course of the game etc... the game engine is much to complicated to give you a list of all the variables that went into creating it.. so these are an attempt to give you a look into what went into it.

the coaching ratings is even farther removed in that the idea of it.. was simply to report how good were the shots that you got compared to the quality of shots one should expect to get given the talent levels on both sides. of course it doesn't really work that way.. but it wasn't an input variable, it was more of a post hoc analysis of how the game went. plus it doesn't really have the right properties as it is... so its not even useful for that.
