U21 "AHON" PILIPINAS NT draws first blood against the TALL BLACKS OF U21 NEW ZEALAND to start their campaign in Season 40 Asia Cup Championships in Australia.
U21 Philippines makes its first mark in the Asia Cup as they beat New Zealand 125-88 with a completely new squad, despite Webster's 47 minute-exposure (he had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal).
Blanca proved to be a big revelation from the bench and became the best player of the game. For only 17 minutes, he made 30 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists with an amazing 76% FG, the highest in the Philippine team. It gave them enough separation to pull of the win on Monday at Australia. Moreover, Levy delos Santos had a double double: 15 points and 16 rebounds, added with 3 assists and 3 blocks and Casiano Rio had the most assists in the game (7 assists).
"I don't expect my boys to have 36 assists and 11 blocks," U21 Philippines coach CoachFabioMenta said, "But we're still on the learning process. [I] Can't take underestimate our opponents."
For the meanwhile, Torreon, who is the youngest in the squad, showed what he is worth of. With a playing time of 19 minutes, he made 9 pts, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.
