Pilipinas beat Singapore, 115-99

Thanks to a strong overall performance from the starters and the bench, we managed to hold off any comeback attempt by Singapore. The team was led by Leorio Lovino with a game-high 26pts (w/ 6rebs & 2asts). 5 players scored in double figures with Raymund Duraliza leading the charge off the bench with 11pts, 3rebs & 1ast, he also shot a perfect 3 of 3 from beyond the arc. Although Pete Libron was the only start to not score in double digit, we still recorded a 10reb-10ast double-double.

Sa lunes na ang isa sa pinakamalupet nating kalaban this round. Hong Kong, one of the better teams sa Asia.

Laban Pilipinas!

Hong Kong narrowly beat Pilipinas, 71-65

Our first L in the Asia Cup this season was handed to us by Hong Kong in yesterday's game with them putting in more effort. The team played well in the 1st quarter only to be held by HK's defense the rest of the way. We did manage to cut the lead to 1 point with 22 seconds left from a clutch Lovino 3 but we were unable to score another after that.

The team was led by Leorio Lovino with 27pts, 6rebs, 2asts on abysmal shooting (9 of 34 from the field). Off the bench, Raymund Duraliza provided a much needed scoring with 13pts in 10 minutes of play.

With the lost, we are currently tied in 2nd place with Taiwan (at 2-1) with the same point differential. The last match of the round against them in 2 weeks will decide who will reach the semi-finals. But first, we must beat Indonesia next week. This will only be possible if we manage to be in better shape next week. We do have great shape this week, managing a close game against a really tough HK team but we still have a lot to improve.

Good luck sa lahat this week, nalalapit na rin ang league playoff so let's tighten our GS for the Asia Cup and the League Playoffs.

Maraming salamat sa patuloy na pagsuporta at pagti-train. Please keep it up.

Laban Pilipinas!

Pilipinas beat Indonesia, 100-62. Sets up showdown for the semi-finals spot against Taiwan

The team led from the jump and never looked back. Jiffrey Sumalapao led the with a game-high 22pts (shot 6 of 7 from downtown) and distributed 3asts. Jeffrey Fresnillo, although a bad shooting night 4 of 16 on the field, had himself a double-double (10pts, 17rebs). Royce Cardino led the bench with 8pts & 3rebs. No bench players managed to score in double figures.

On Monday, we will be facing Taiwan for a chance to reach the semis and a medal. The loser, however, will still make the revamped World Cup Qualifiers next season. Syempre mas gusto nating manalo at makakuha ng medal this season. Chance to proceed na rin sa Finals if we are able to beat Taiwan then China.

Please keep our boys in shape at keep on training para sa future natin.

Laban Pilipinas!

Taiwan held Pilipinas to lowest scoring output this season, 76-61

In a game for a spot for the semis next week, Team Pilipinas failed to grab a spot, even though we put more effort, as they trailed throughout the game. We managed to keep it close until the 3rd quarter, but our scoring did not improve in the 4th quarter resulting to a 3rd place finish and missing out on a medal this season.

Melvin Chan led the team in scoring with 16pts. He also had 5rebs & 2asts. Leorio Lovino contributed 15pts, 2rebs & 1ast while Peter Heyrosa put up 12pts, 3rebs & 4asts. The team shot 28.9% from the field, missing all 14 3-pts attempt.

Next week will be a scrimmage week but please keep our boys in great shape dahil ang week after non ay World Cup Qualifying game. Another must-win game para naman sa World Cup spot. Wala pa tayong makakalaban sa ngayon dahil aantayin pa ang semi-finalist from America and Africa. I'll provide an update pag may naka-set na tayong kalaban that week. Hopefully maganda pa rin ang game shape ng mga bata kahit League Finals Game 2 and 3 at scrimmages na lang ang games that week.

Maraming salamat sa patuloy na pagsuporta at pagtitiwala.

Laban Pilipinas!

Argentina beat Pilipinas, 102-90

Last game of the season. Chance to get in the World Championship with the new format ngunit natalo tayo. Sad end sa season natin after a fantastic start pero ganun talaga, Ang positive takeaway ay papasok tayo sa consolation next season nang 0-0 ang record. We can try again sa season 61 to get in the Worlds pero sa ngayon ay mag-focus muna tayo sa pahinga at sa paparating na consolation tournament.

Arby Monegro has played his last NT stint due to significant drop-off this season. Royce Cardino, on the other hand, depends on the team's needs during the course of the season and by how much he'll drop-off.

Titindig tayong muli. Laban Pilipinas!
