The game actually has a game manual that's listed on the sidebar menu. Also, if you click on the forums on the sidebar menu and then go to the help forum, you'll find an awesome game guide that's been written by one of the users here.
As for strategies, I'd avoid buying any players before reading the two game guides, as some skills are more important than others. Watch the transfer list for a few days so that you can figure out appropriate prices for your players. Cut your roster down to 11 or so. The players you start out with in this game blow so you'll eventually get rid of most of them.
Look Inside dominates this game and Outside Defense is the most important guard skill.
