Round 1
April 7th, 2025
Suuret Muinaiset vs. Buckner Bandits: 112 - 72
(133879671)

Thank you for the first ever score post in HGL!

I would like to make a request to all HGL managers: please also add a score of your match to your season box score post (which was my initial idea after I decided every team needs one dedicated post for it, but I guess I haven't remembered to shared it on forums yet).

If you use a format in your box score post that do not include both team names, please mark your team's score first.

Example: Suuret Muinaiset won their first match 112-72.
In his box score post (where all box score links are located) he uses this kind of format that doesn't include his team name:
RS Round 1: Monday, April 7th, 2025: vs Buckner Bandits (133879671)

So in this case it would be necessary that he would add his score first, and opponent's score second.
After his update, box score post would look like this:
RS Round 1: Monday, April 7th, 2025: vs Buckner Bandits (133879671) 112-72

Please note that in this example I was referring to formatting of his box score post, where all his Season 1 match links are provided.
As for separate match reports (that cthulhu from Suuret Muinaiset and I already sent a while ago to this thread), it would be preferable to follow his and my example in terms of formatting of each single box score post, so that we'd retain some standard and most importantly because it helps to find information quicker. If we all use whatever formatting in our posts, it does make finding anything later on more arduous project.

In my Season 1 box score post, update after Round 1 looks like this: (326590.44).

If you can't remember where your box score post was located on this thread, you can find it from here (link after your team name): (326590.4)

I'm still in a process of considering whether or not it would be sufficient for each manager to add their scores only to their own box score post of Season 1, but for now everyone can keep on sending box score posts to this HGL Scores-thread (not to the other Official HGL Thread). It might be a safer way, as it is theoretically possible (/more likely of those two options) that someone would be able to accidentally delete (or edit unintentionally in a wrong way) their Season 1 box score post.
Having said that, I still request everyone to add a score of matches to their own Season 1 box score post.

Please remember, it's not absolutely necessary for you to send box score link of your match, if you see that your opponent has sent it already. Of course, even if your opponent has sent box score link to this thread, it is necessary that you have confirmed it's actually a correct game by clicking the provided match link.

Remember, checking out the link in above case is done for two reasons:
First, some managers have organized 2 matches per same HGL match day due to wrong initial scheduling of the matches, so it is important to provide a link with a same game number that is found from official schedule (played in correct/approved time).
Second, if some manager writes the match number by hand (and not copy-paste it) to the box score post, making a mistake with one number would create a faulty link (linking to completely wrong match).

There is nothing wrong for both participants to send box score posts though, as I guess only downside would be crowding of the forum.

Just wondering, would it be easier if the teams just updated their schedule to indicate the scores?

That way Wagner and anyone else would just have to look at those? No worries if not and I will comply to whatever we choose, but was just wondering? Maybe a next year thing so we arent changing during the season...

Also, great game Les Gueux du Marais!!

I was actually pondering the same thing here in my previous reply, 4 posts before yours, here: (326590.91).

I'm glad you pointed it out yourself as well, as it's definitely something to consider, and we will likely move towards that practice in the future.

Meanwhile, in that post I already asked everyone to add all their match scores to their single Season 1 box score compilation-post, before I can finish the decision process on best future practice (I have to consider many aspects when making practically any decisions/suggestions, and as T-Lit mentioned, usability/findability of information for league Commissioner is one of those aspects). Like mentioned, if some practice out of these 2 demanded is dropped, it's likely going to be the requirement to send a separate post after each game, but we'll discuss more about that slightly later.

But for now, let's also in addition keep on sending each box score post here in this thread after each match of HGL (if it's not already been sent by your opposing manager), thank you. :)

Wow, I'm very glad to see posts by T-Lit (on main HGL Thread) and by Hadár (on HGL Scores-thread), I love that kind of effort and it's great to see others are excited for the start of HGL as well! :) +1

Thank you. I like statistics. If I have the time, they will be after each round.

Thank you. I like statistics. If I have the time, they will be after each round.

I also really, really like statistics, so anything you want to do on that part to help is truly warmly welcome!
Of course nothing is expected of anyone (especially on regular basis, as I understand it sometimes takes a big effort to get something seemingly simple properly done/finalized), but like I said, it was very pleasant surprise you and T-Lit sent such posts on official threads after Round 1. I mean all that takes time and effort, and it gives me inspiration to see you guys wanted to take that time... and I think it also shows that you too are excited about the launch of HGL. :)

I also plan/aim to publish some team statistics at some point of season, but I can't make exact promises yet, as doing that manually is quite a lot of work. And also it's the kind of work you can't do like some actual work could be done (in the style of 'just lay your brain to the shelf and keep on doing'), as it all gets ruined if mistakes are being done with the data entry. But for me statistics are, if not "everything", so important anyway that I'd love to introduce some of them to HGL as well.
