Not sure if any of the other managers who do write ups check it but I eliminate the garbage quarters and I find that quite often those who play patient and lose by a big margin tend to have their go to man jack up like 15-20 points per garbage quarter. ;)

If LORDY plays Patient, the score is 80 all at the start of the 4th, then Underwood who had scored 60 of his team's 80 on 75% shooting gets injured and the team loses by 20 then I still think he has a fair shot to be the MVP depending on the stats of the players on the winning team (lets say no-one else had more than 20 PTS or 8 REB or 4 AST). But if I did give him the MVP I would feel a little uneasy.

thats not always the case my player had 50+ playing patient by the end of the third quarter against leeroy that scored crap all after three quarter time he was minus -8 when on the court and was the only thing keeping me in the game in the 8mins he wasnt on the court i was minus 30 how can you say he wouldnt of kept me closer if he kept playing all so shot at 50+% for the game but im still happy for faka to get the 3 votes for that game if you like as i dont have that player anymore haha

And i was never using patient for him to get votes but to go for a surprise upset, which looked good until that last quarter. Also faka was playing against a player with respectable defense for 44mins of his 47min playing time.

That's an uncommon patient scenario and if that player was the key reason for keeping your team winning or in the game then quite often if there's no clear challenger for the 3 votes then I would have given your player the 3 votes. Not his fault your other starters suck. :p

its up to the person who puts the time in to do the votes as far as I'm concerned, its a nice little extra we get and is not something people should expect and expect to be 100% right every single time, beggars cant be choosers.

This is why there should be no appeals.

I don't care if you disagree, respect the fact that it's your opinion that counts if someone else has done the votes, suck it up and deal with it.

Hey mate, By all means I think your player Deserved the 3 votes in that game. Definitely Justifiable, I was just using yours as an example on the other side of the spectrum.

The one with the bigger grey area was my match against Iwen when Faka played half of the minutes of the 3 vote winner and scored half of the points with 3 steals 2 rebounds and 2 assists.

As I have stated before this is not an appeal otherwise I would have addressed it as such.

I'm on C-Cat and Yoda's side of the fence. When I did do MVPs yonks ago, I valued the winning team more than an individidual putting up crazy stats unless the scores was close.

In the case of blowouts, the losing team's best player regardless of stats never got the 3 points. Heck he would be lucky to even get 2. Blowouts stats are always counted at the end of the 3rd quarter eliminating garbage time stats when the losing team usually catch up.

The case of patient is quite different to other tactics because so much manipulation can be done. Classic case was LORDY playing PG Underwood at PF. Playing Patient he got most of the shots and he was matched up in a position against players that have relatively lower OD. Thats why he is tearing up 100k C/PFs while getting ratings of 7. Had he been playing PG/SG his rating would have been in the 13 area.

Any team can decide to do this and play a average shooter guard at C/PF to exploit defenses. Does this mean he necessarily is the best player in the game? Had there been dynamic defending then this wouldn't be a problem but because most teams have PF defending PF, they are int this case stuck to defending the PG instead, while Underwood beats his man time and time again while the team as a whole still loses by a significant amount. Heck even Underwood gets great shooting % due to the exploitation but it doesn't necessarily mean he is MVP. Had teams played a guard instead of a PF to defend underwood instead then Underwood would be smashed every game.

Just saying, stats ain't everything and a lot are open to manipulation based on tactics and strategies.

Yeah second that. In a blowout, even if a player in the losing team scores 70 points, he still shouldn't be rewarded the 3 points.

Even in the NBA the MVP usually goes to winning teams. He doesn't have to be best in BB, just the most valuable to his team. And a player is much more valuable to his team if he helps his team win.

I feel like I should defend myself. I play patient with mismatches for a reason... my team is terrible. It isn't to pad stats.

If people don't like it, play a zone... 3-2 zone tends to break patient, but no one plays it? That's their tactical failing, not mine.

And not any team can do it, as seen by some others attempting it. You need a certain makeup of skills on your team (that I lucked in to).
