Another issue with the boycott rule.

If you want to exploit it, it would be best to collude with some other user. Many teams need to punt a game or two in order to have the players stay in shape because of cup games.

In my position right now, the best thing to do, would be to find a team that is willing to punt a game, and I'll do another favor. Because I could use a substantial amount of money, this could be an overbid on a player. I doubt that would be a wanted outcome for everybody.

If you can find 2 teams in your conference to collude with, you can all be safe for 2/3 of the season.

We lack important information about boycott (amount of funds related to % decrease). And what about the third game to win ? Will it have impact on the next season ?
Good, perhaps you will more success than I had in asking this. It's impossible to make rational decisions without some more detail (or examples).

The other thing about the boycott which makes no sense, the way they planned it, is that in the last 3rd of the season this rule probably will have no effect anyway. Say you go W/LL/LL/LL/ WL/LL/LL/L/L L/LL/LL/LL (/ is the financial update) then you won 1 game in the first 3rd, one in the interconference so the boycott should not kick in. After that you need to win one game in the last 3rd of the season, but it doesn't say when which means it probably kicks in on the very last game when you lose the 14th in a row...

My main problem with the boycott is that the way it's implemented is going to hit also teams who are just trying to train players and don't manage to get the wins because of it. If training is king and you want to incentivise training, do you really want to punish someone who can't win (maybe by a few points) because he simply wants to train?

If I was a relatively new user in my third season still getting to know the game and coming from a rather underwhelming season where I kept building my arena, I read that news and I'd think "oh s**t, I'd better rush and buy players to win 3-4 games, rather than training or building my arena". The way it's been presented it's unclear whether it's better to pay for the extra player(s) or to suffer the drop in gate receipts.
