I can't believe how many teams have taken the foot off the accelerator this season. Looks like we all stupidly made our runs together last season, only to be halted by the late buy in by Crockers. This season has been quite uncompetitive in comparison. At thsi rate i'm going to make playoffs when I had previously expected to be fighting for 5th.

It's one of the biggest problems with the game, imo - teams that just plod along and then buy up big before the playoffs. It ends up just being a contest to see who can have the most money at the end of the season.

i dont think its really that different when compared to a lower league.

For instance, you might be plodding along, ready to strike for the next season, then suddenly a big name drops into your division and you're stuck again for another season. The suddenly someone else makes their move and yadda yadda yadda ur still there 3 seasons later.

so its the same here. Its all still about long term tactics. The point of difference for this season is that we dont have an abbl'er that dropped into wreck carnage. but all it takes is a good run in the cup, a trainee to come good for the U21 and you suddenly jag an MVP'er in the draft whilst still finishing 2nd or something like that.

And in saying all that, have a look at abbl. Both WA is a dump and Black Label society are 2-4 so far this season. Pancakes got relegated last season.... effin Pancakes! like seriously! imagine having BLS or WIAD next season? imagine! hairy stuff.

so yer. its just the way the game ebbs and flows. some seasons will be like this. some seasons will be like last year. Some season willbe like last year, except 2 people do EXACTLY what crockers did, like... to the max... and one ends up with a win and another loses. or worse. 3 teams do it.

and not everyone will buy up big before the playoffs, because they might not feel like they are ready for ABBL this year. Then they ahve to make the decision to risk staying another year in Div II, when BLS drops down and eats us all.

PS: im loving the caginess and the conspiracy and the 'ooooooooo why did he TIE that game?" and the "Is he saving up $$s? ... im loving all the intrigue.

.....its like an Agatha Christie novel inside a BuzzerBeater game.

I do apologise. All Sorts have quit though and will be tanking/training for a few seasons (and possibly going bot). I have a really long term goal that takes 6 - 8 seasons of training so unfortunately I will be doing the tank and buy up until my trainees start to be able to do something.

I fully expect to relegate and may never again promote but otherwise I'm finding this sort of boring. I like my quirky teams. Trying to make it really quirky at the moment :)

I have to admit that I have copied you. I have purchased some players with "unusual" skill sets and patient is my second best tactic and I have had some real success with it.

I'm not saying everyone does it, but buying up just for the finals is the suckiest part of the game. Just the same as tanking and then buying up to avoid relegation. It sucks for everyone else and is easily the worst part of the game.

I agree with you here. I have long argued that they should do the same as the NBA where rosters are locked a week after the all star game.

100% agreed.

Rosters don't necessarily have to be locked, but the transfer deadline for playoff eligibility definitely needs to be earlier.

Locking the rosters completely would add a certain element to team management though.
