What was the thinking behind the lineup?
SG, SF,C felt a bit strange.. And PG with 8 GS instead of Åkesten with 9 GS
Russia lost so we now have a very interesting game against a crunch
The thinking behind the line up (long version) ;) :
SG: After deciding that I play LI, I had to choose a guard who can support the offense. My first ideas were Mazzo and Everland. But bith guys have GS 7 and that's too low for starting. So I took Widerström, the player with the highest passing skill of all swedish players. I had something like this in mind:
(36284). Against the Netherland, who aren't a weak team, it worked exellent. Yesterday, the first four field goals were all assisted by Widerström. But than... it was like a huge break. -.-
With Widerström as the SG I had to rearrange the defense. So he went inside and as a result, I needed a SF who could run an inside tactic and defend as a SG. Mazzo would be my first choice, but again, GS 7. Everland GS 7. Tunggard was the best choice here.
SF: So Tunggard started as the SF and Mazzo was his back up. The otehr way round would be better.
C: Tjädermo was a result of my defense line up. With Widerström defending the C and Tunggard the SG, I needed a C who could defend as a SF. Sandbom is set as the PF. So Tjädermo, who has the needed skills played as the C and went for the SF. I thought about Öby, but he hasn't the required OD. And he was the right back up for Sandbom (offense).
About the PG: It's right that Akersten has GS 9, but I wanted someone with more passing at the 1. And Akersten isn't the best guy for this.
Looking at the game from yesterday, the difference of enthusiasm hurt us more than I expected. It was around 3 or 4 points. And like you say, the game against Russia will be a do or die match. I'm still pretty p***ed that we lost and fell 15 ranks down. If I see which teams are ahead of us and what kind of schedule they have... it's like day and night. We had to fight through almost every game and other teams could build up their enth. and cruise from win to win -.-
