man, 300k is a lot of cash for D4/5ers

I don't even call it minor tanking. I call it "better than the other teams in your league," management.

Why ?

Because of this : (46306164), (46306223), (46306244).
Why would you have to pay a ticket for these games ? Some of your fans follow you on away games, you know that ?

It's not only your team, other teams have this kind of games.
Yesterday : (46306254) and (46306255)
Tuesday : (46306247) and (46306244)
Your league receives TV money, it's a joke of a league. Who wants to follow this ? Networks should boycott you ! :D

It's not only in top leagues, it's going down the leagues. Sometimes half the games on a matchday are filler games.

It's not against you or against tankers, the strategy is sound, we understand why teams tank. It's about the game.
The teams behind you will soon realize they should semi-tank like you. They only need 5 starters to win games once in a while. Matchday results should soon be awesome. Only a handful of teams aiming for the title should keep full rosters.
The owners have complained sometimes that BBers were not always playing logically. Well if we played logically, we would already be there, with stupid looking leagues.

So it's about the game, the best strategy now is (semi-)tanking and it's not only in top leagues. It's due to some of the game rules and how the game works.

The core of BB is supposed to be the GE and the matchdays. The GE is BB's gem. The owners can be proud of it. It's perfectible and it's annoying that it has not been updated for ages but it is still very good.

So it's about the game. How would I introduce BB to friends ? How would you ? What is the game about ? Basketball ? Finances ? Doing nothing for months then buying a team by the 3rd quarter of 2013 ?

This is up to the devs to think about it and decide what kind of game they want.

right on. One friend of mine is tanking before the BBs "do something about it" he won his game with practically 3 people only. Check out III.6 USA, look the 3rd placed team in the Big 8 (Eclypze) and you'll see it.

They should also boycott Real Madrid and Barcelona, they win League Games with more than 5 Goals difference form time to time! ;-)

There are games where its useless to compete, especially if you have 2 League and one Cup game - you would need a roster with more than more than 900k Salary to be able to compete in all three if you always had to play against Full team opponents - needless to say, not many teams can afford that

On average our the teams in my League earn -4k per week .. while I make +400k (meaning some Teams are losing lots of money every week)

What other choice is there than to (semi-)tank? If I had enough money I would rather play to compete than to earn lots of money so that I can compete again

Austria is rather small, which means our 2nd Leagues are quite weak (-> Less Money) which means when a Team promotes it should better have lots of reserves - you can't keep a strong team long in the 2nd League which is even partially able to compete in the Bundesliga (I had to exchange all of my Players when I promoted - and I only lost two games in the season I promotedm one in the regular season by -1 and the 2nd Playoff Final Game)


Besides - those 3 Games of my Team were committed for Training, try winning when running Cs at PG/SG - as long as the training system is not changed there is no reason to even try to win this if you have to forfeit one or two positions, I did the same in the last two seasons while I had a competitive team (I still don't know why I even won one game - let alone 5 .. I just wanted a nice new homegrown Draft to train for our NT :-/)

You haven't read the other solutions, I don't think. You can't deny that it's silly and something should be done. It's just WHAT it is that should be done is in question.

Well, if the Real/Barça hyper domination of the Spanish Liga continues, on the long run, it will destroy the league as it is undermining its credibility.
Besides, Real, Barça and a few other Spanish big clubs have individual domestic TV rights. Real and Barça have super high TV rights in comparison to the rest of the league. In BB, every team gets an equal share, even tankers.
So there is no need to boycott the league, in practice, Real and Barça games are broadcasted in every corner of the world, you don't get to see the other teams playing between themselves and they don't get money.

No need to explain the 3 games a week stuff, we all have this same constraint and we understand why tanking is attractive and efficient.

About your two next points, it is not about your choices. You are doing what you should logically do. It is the point ! At the moment, the game rewards withdrawing from competition and penalizes pretending or trying to compete. Is it desirable from the point of view of the game masters ?
And it is one thing to save money while trying to stay in the middle of the pack and the extreme tanking strategies that we witness.

Austria II is not different that every other league. You need to improve your team when you are promoted, even at the lower levels of large countries.
Revenues are lower because payrolls are very light, not directly because Austria's game world is small. Let's talk about profit, not revenues.
In small game worlds, the gap is usually large between II and I but at the same time, a team can hang forever in PO waters in II and make a hefty weekly profit which can be used to improve the team.
Don't think that II teams in larger game worlds make bigger profits, they don't.

I hope you don't take this personally, it is really not a witch hunt on tankers, there is no moral judgement, it's only for the sake of the game that members discuss it.
The BB staff is very difficult to wake up on the issue. In the meantime, because of the season's announcement, people arel taking the opportunity to tank now while it is still possible, and when and if a new announcement will warn of changes to come, if they are not implemented immediatly, people will tank and build up on cash before they take effect.

I think that if BBs don't do anything about tanking now, it will become so popular that it'll be the only way to win (considering it is the best strategy), so they will eventually have to do something or BB players will start to leave.

yes definately. There are 5 bots now in my league, and me and my league buddy (also only other person forum active) will try to persuade these new teams to stay in BB. I mean 5 teams is not a lot. But if you keep stacking that 5s for a 100 times, it becomes something right? 500 is still not a lot, but in a year, lets say 500 times 12 times this happens? 6000 people. You know where I'm going right? If these players come to look at higher leagues, and see tanking going on, they will leave! We haven't hit 50k guy in a while now, and somehow we need to pursuade them! Tell on facebook or twitter or whatever social site they got! I'm going to sign up for facebook in a few weeks and once I got a lot of friends, I'll persuade them to come here. Mark my words! Tanking is bad and it has to be stopped, or we will never hit 50k people for a while.......
